On Saturday, March 27, 2010, Autism Society Chapter-Kern Autism Network will present "Conservatorship and Special Needs Trust," a workshop for parents of autistic individuals. The workshop will be held at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, 1300 - 17th Street, Room 1B, in Bakersfield, from 8:30 a.m. until noon.
Our presenters will be Barry Rosenfeld and Richard McBurnie. This workshop will benefit parents who have children of all ages.
Conservatorship is a legal proceeding in which an individual may be appointed by the court to be responsible for a person who needs assistance in activities of daily living. Options include full and limited conservatorships. Attorney Richard McBurnie will discuss this complex legal issue and answer questions pertaining to the entire process.
Special Needs Trusts are a method of providing future financial security for your child while maintaining eligibility for state and federal aid. Funding techniques exist for these trusts no matter what your financial level. Barry Rosenfeld, CLU, ChFC, has received extensive training from the National Center on Life Planning to better serve those with special needs children.
Reservations are on a first come, first served basis. This workshop is free. Seating is limited to 60 and reservations are required. To register to attend, call 661-588-4235 or email kernautism@gmail.com.
