Hedberg pitches baseball no-hitter
Warrior baseball reeled off a pair of wins at the recent Terrio Therapy Spring Classic last week, defeating Golden Valley 15-6 and West-Bakersfield, 2-0.
The latest win against West came off a brilliant performance by sophomore pitcher Justin Hedberg, who walked only two batters in a seven-inning, no-hitter gem.
Tehachapi (2-4) was led at the plate against West by a host of players that included Brock Tessandori, who went 2-3 with a double, Trevor Burtz with a homerun and Anthony Urso with a 2-3 performance and a run scored.
Against Golden Valley, the Warriors exploded for 12 hits, with Trevor Burtz leading the charge with a 3-4 plate performance, five runs scored, four RBIs, two home runs and a double.
Brock Tessandori also went 4-5 with four runs scored, three RBIs and two doubles, while Anthony Urso had two hits, two runs scored, five RBIs and a homerun.
Also recording hits against Golden Valley were Zach St. John, Zach Timm and Travis Tessandori.
In junior varsity action, the Braves nearly defeated Bakersfield powerhouse Centennial in an overtime 4-3 loss (eight innings), and closed their tournament with a 14-0 drubbing over West-Bakersfield.
Lady Warriors soccer ends season at Madera
Facing the no.1 seed in the Division III playoffs, Tehachapi came ready to play in the game's early going but eventually fell to Madera-South in the Central Section Division III semifinals, 2-0.
The Lady Warriors put a scare to the Stallions in the first five minutes of the contest, with Alli Meister nearly scoring the game's opening goal. Meister's opportunity would be the first of for four shots in the frame overall for Tehachapi (14-6-3; 8-2 SSL), while Kendyl Stephens finished the game with six saves to lead the defense.
