After collecting the school’s first CIF central section championship in the boy’s division, the Warriors and Lady Warriors reeled in a collection of individual honors to go along with the team title with 15 athletes named to the first, second and honorable mention category in the South Sequoia League.

Taking in second team honors were Charles Hanson and Sarah Whitson, who both had strong runs at the league finals. Hanson took fifth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.02, while also running a strong leg to an eventual first place in the 4x400 relay and a new school record with a time of 3:30.75. Whitson took 10th at the CIF finals in the 1600 meters, while taking third in the same event at the SSL finals along with a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run.

Earning honorable mention for Tehachapi was Russell McCullough, Michael Lowder and Kate Miles. McCullough took ninth at the CIF finals and third at the SSL finals in the 110 meter hurdles and Lowder took second in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump at the league meet. Miles took fifth and 10th place respectively in the 100 meter hurdles at the league and section championships, along with a seventh place finish in the 300 meter hurdles.

Mountain Track and Field had 10 athletes overall collect first team honors.

Tyler Hemmer

The senior took third place in the section in the 100 and 200 meter dash events, a second place finish in the 4x100 meter relay, and a historic first place finish in the 4x400 meter relay to give Tehachapi a shocking CIF team championship at the Sequoia/Sierra division finals. Hemmer was also a league champion in the 100 meter dash, 4x100 relay, and a silver finisher in the 200 meter dash at the SSL championships, while also earning an honorable mention all-area selection.

Brennen Davis

The talented junior collected a section championship in the 200 meter dash and second in the 100 meter dash to help Tehachapi register critical team points en route to a section title. Davis was also a member of the second place 4x100 meter relay team and 4x400 sequoia/sierra division champion relay squad, while also turning in an impressive performance at the league finals, collecting gold in the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 4x100 relay and 4x400 relay events. Davis was also a second team all-area selection.

Brendyn Heath

The freshman x-factor helped Tehachapi pull to the top of the standings more than once on the season with lightning fast speed. Heath helped the Warriors to a second place finish at the section championships in the 4x100 relay, and a strong league finals performance that turned in a second place finish in the 100 meter dash and sixth in the 200 meter dash.

Max Clark

Clark used his talent in the both the track and field events to help Tehachapi collect a fifth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles and a sixth place finish in the long jump at the Sequoia/Sierra championships. Clark was also was a league champion in the long jump, and strong finisher in the 110 meter hurdles (second) and 300 meter hurdles (seventh) at the SSL finals.

Sergei Horowitz

Horowitz took fifth in the 400 meter dash and a section title in the 4x400 meter run to help Tehachapi to their first CIF championship, while also collecting a league championship in the same relay event. Horowitz also had a strong league finals run, collecting second in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters to help the Warriors to the SSL team title.

Richard Guiles

Guiles helped Tehachapi to critical points a the SSL championships and CIF finals, taking second and fourth place respectively in the 300 meter hurdles, and fourth place in the 110 meter hurdles at the league finals. Guiles fourth place finish at the section championships were pivotal, with his noted correction from fifth to fourth at the judges table giving Tehachapi the needed 61 team points to take the section title.

Josh Cone

Cone helped the Warriors to an impressive two-three-four sweep at the section finals in the 200 meter dash, and backed up the strong performance with a solid second place finish in the 4x100 relay and gold finish in the 4x100 relay later on in the afternoon. Cone was also a dual league champion in both relay events, taking gold in the 4x100 and 4x400, while also collecting fourth place honors in the 200 meter dash.

Rachel Evans

Evans capped a strong sophomore season with a third place finish in the 200 meters and fourth in the 100 meters at the league finals, and finishing strong in the relay events with a third place finish in the 4x100 relay and second place showing in the 4x400 relay. Evans also was one of Tehachapi’s top individual finishers at the section finals, collecting 10th in the 200 meter dash and strong runs in the 4x100 relay (seventh) and 4x400 relay (sixth).

Danielle Tildahl

Along with sixth and seventh place finishes in the 4x400 and 4x100 relay events at the CIF finals, Tildahl also had an impressive eighth place finish in the 800 meter dash to end a brilliant sophomore year. At the league finals, Tildahl also had second place finishes in the 4x400 relay, 400 and 800 meter dash events, and third place in the 4x100 relay.

Selena Demus

The freshman thrower had an impressive first year of high school, taking third place in the discus at the Sequoia/Sierra section finals, and third overall at the league finals, where she competed against the Gatorade National Track and Field athlete of the year and national record holder Anna Jelmini. Demus was also a top 15 finisher for Tehachapi in the 200 meter dash at the SSL championships.
