The Latest News — The big news of the day is that the new "Safe & Inclusive Schools" curriculum for grades 6 through 12 has been completed by the Tehachapi Unified School District and a parent meeting will be held on Tuesday night, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. at Tehachapi High School to update parents about the curriculum. We'll have more about the curriculum in tomorrow's Tehachapi News and online.

PUBLIC SAFETY REPORT
The public safety report is based upon our request to have information from the various agencies each weekday morning, covering the period since our last contact. We appreciate those agencies that are helping us bring you the News@Noon.
Activity reported by the Tehachapi Police Dept.:
Due to the Martin Luther King Holiday information from the weekend is not yet available from public safety agencies. Regular daily reports will resume tomorrow. However, we're sharing the weekly update that will appear in tomorrow's Tehachapi News print edition:
The Tehachapi Police department reported 276 incidents for the period Jan. 14 through Jan. 20. There were 114 calls for service and 162 officer initiated incidents.
Seven felony arrests were reported:
• Carmela Yorac Dames, age 34 was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and possession of syringe.
• Shakia Bryant, age 22 on a felony warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
• Larry Eugene Barker, Sr., age 64, for assault with a deadly weapon, battery on spouse, and violation of
a court order.
• Shaun Taylor, age 32, on a felony warrant for possession of stolen property and possession of narcotic paraphernalia and two misdemeanor warrants for various narcotic violations.
• Adam Jorge Hernandez, age 32, on a felony warrant for shooting at an inhabited dwelling.
• Michael Guy Spellman, age 55, was arrested on a felony warrant for violation of post release supervision.
• Charity Joy Machiewicz, age 21, was arrested on a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon.
Sixteen misdemeanor arrests were reported, as well as 40 traffic stops and three moving vehicle citations and one accident. Five disturbing the peace one call for vandalism and five assist other agencies.
The Kern County Sheriff, Tehachapi Substation, reported, one burglary from vehicle, one burglary from a residence and two petty thefts last week.
Bear Valley reported one call for disturbing the peace and one traffic accident during the period.
WEATHER FORECAST
The National Weather Service in Hanford provides the following forecast for the Tehachap area:
• This afternoon, Sunny, with a high near 55. East northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
• Tonight Clear, with a low around 39. East northeast wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
• Tuesday
Sunny, with a high near 61. East northeast wind around 15 mph.
• Tuesday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 41. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
• Look for a change in the weather with clouds moving in on Wednesday and a chance of rain by the weekend.
CIVIC CALENDAR
• Tehachapi City Council meeting originally set for Monday, Jan. 21, has been moved to Tuesday, Jan. 22,
due to the Martin Luther King Day holiday.
