Did anyone notice this item which was listed under "news":

http://www.tehachapinews.co...

When I read it, it seemed like an advertisement posted to get folks to buy houses. Then, when I saw it was authored by a firm engaged in real estate sales, it kind of ticked me off that the Tehachapi News would report this story under "News". The way the thing was written, if it was done in a way to avoid it appearing as an advertisement, it wasn't worded good.

At any rate, although I'm all for house sales and a good economy, it just seemed like it was done improperly. Could be that I'm just not in a good mood today. If so, I'll chalk it off to not getting enough sleep.......

After I read the TN article regarding the "Senior Prank" I was mystified that some of the parents actually thought the punishment (not walking through graduation, remuneration for damages, etc) as too severe. On the contrary, I think charges should have been filed. Since when is vandalism not a crime? Surely at least a misdemeanor.

Pranks are harmless jokes. Pranks are not vandalism. The school board and administration needs to come down hard on anyone who vandalizes taxpayer property.

How would you like it if someone stole money from you? Well, they did. I paid property taxes which were effectively stolen by vandals. Other residents did too, and anyone who rents paid them because those taxes are passed along as part of rent charges. And, I don't care if they were students or not. They were criminals and need to face the correct consequences.

Harmless prank, yes. Vandalism NO. It's irrelevant that they might have been seniors.

The News article on the winter snow photo got me to thinking about winters I have seen here over the many decades. Here is one from a winter not too distant (around 1988), and there was lots of snow. I don't think it got above freezing for about two weeks, and at one point there was well over a foot of snow on the street and eventually about 2 feet in the yard. Does anyone have some really good winter photos we can look at from year's past. A lot folks that are new haven't seen a really ferocious snowy winter.

With the leanings of the Supreme Court, I am curious as to opinions on whether or not a mother should be prosecuted for murder (as well as anyone who assists) if Roe v Wade were overturned. I saw this written about recently and the question was posed: Shouldn't any mother who gets a, then illegal, abortion also be prosecuted for murder? Obviously, if Roe V. Wade were overturned each State could then enact its own laws governing this. How should the State address this particular aspect?

I found a really outstanding WebCam for Tehachapi. It is associated with a weather monitoring site that is privately operated. The camera can be accessed at: http://www.mountainbase.com... and the weather site at: http://www.mountainbase.com... . If anyone wants to send their friends the link to this site, they can always see what is happening here. Usually, the WebCam is postcard perfect--I mean really good! The weather site has received commendations from the National Weather Service, and I believe it is used as a monitoring site in some respects for the NWS. It is located in Golden Hills. If anyone else has some good WebCam sites, perhaps it would be nice to post them here---your favorites?
