So magically delicious!

It's the

Newsletter...St. Paddy's Rollergirl Day Edition!

When seasons change in Bako, it means only one thing in my world - allergies.

My loud coughing (which I inherited from my dad, who can also wake up a whole house with one sneeze) has probably been driving my co-workers crazy - or grossing them out.

Trying to ease the annoyance, I’ve been taking all the over-the-counter meds (including, but not limited to: Claritin, Sudafed, and Halls.) They seem to work OK, but after a while the drugged up feeling begins to wear, and I begin the transformation into a sort of allergy-stricken werewolf - stay back while I’m under the influence of these potent meds, or I’ll bite your freakin’ head off!

Bako has the air and allergens to knock down even the biggest of beasts, but not the Bakersfield Rollergirls, who grace this week’s cover of Bakotopia. Their story is definitely one of survival of the fittest, as you will find out inside. They’ve come a long way to become contenders in a sport that has been brewing underground for awhile. BRG Dezi Von Dropya even graced the cover of our premiere edition of Bakotopia, and has been a good friend ever since.

Of course, it’s also our St. Paddy’s Day edition, and thanks to our fantabulous intern, Chase, and playboy about town, Tekwiz, aka Popeye, they’ve got some interesting pieces to get you ready to do the town on March 17. If you’re not into putting yourself in a green alcoholic spin, you’ll also find that Bakotopia has some cool non-alcoholic arts, fun, and frolic at every page.

So don’t stop here - click on a link below and get reading!

Awwww come on Smokey...There's a lot of people from Tehachapi who work here in Bakersfield, or vice versa. Kern County is as diverse as it is BIG! We're just trying to add some flavor to the stew! I get a lot of "Thanks" for the update e-mails too, especially from people who have re-located and want to keep in touch!

I appreciate your comments. We have a lot of folks who come to Bakotopia.com to promote their out of town events, and we welcome them with open arms. There's something for everyone. We've promoted the Tehachapi 4th of July Hot Dog Festival by request by Tehachapians! As for myself - I love visiting Tehachapi!

Here's an article by a user who promoted the Kernville Keyesville Bike Race on Bakotopia.com, and Bakotopia Magazine: Click on picture if you'd like to read it. It's featured in our latest print edition, and posted on our sister websites:

Gearing Up For  a Return To Keyesville 2008

First timer looks back at last year's endurance race. Sign-up for the big bike weekend March 14-16, 2008!

 Hey Bakotopia,

I enjoy your posts!

Here's some allergy advice for you: Mucinex-D is better than plain Sudafed and Zyrtec is MUCH better than Claritin.  I've been using NeilMed Sinus Rinse once or twice a day, especially if I've spent a lot of time outdoors or my cats have been spending too much time indoors!!!  I understand about biting people's heads off while taking Sudafed...I tend to be very grouchy when I have to take  decongestants too many days in a row

In Peace,

Annette

Annette - Thanks, I'm just having fun - glad you enjoy the links!

Smokey - Your opinion is fine in my book... :) In two secs I will edit those web guidelines to include Kern County (the rules are a little outdated...hehe.)

It's nice to have choices, options, or just more things to do - Life Is Short...Let's all gather round the fire and enjoy it!

thanks awsmom lol.....

I am almost healed and will be returning to the real world soon........
Back to work I'll go.......
So I'll be fighting for computer time  with the kids and my old lady.........And they usually win ha ha

Believe it or not this blogging has kept-ed me ''sane'' over these last ten months ha ha

I'd like to extend Gube an invite back to Bakotopia....

Gube,  I don't know what kind of work you do but make sure you are not only healed but are in good enough physical shape to return to work.  It's easy to get re injured by being healed but but not being in very good of shape after 10 mths of blogging and sitting around.  If this was a workers comp they may have a "work hardening" program to get you ready, instead of just diving in full time.

awsmom hey thank you for your comment. That's pretty cool of you to care.

I should be released in a month to go back to work. I am a union sheet metal worker in other words I install duct work and that kind of stuff. I have done the HVAC at our new high school, the Jet hawk baseball stadium in Lancaster and my last big job was the new wing of the San Joaquin hospital just to name a few.
I do have a membership at the gym and I have started exercising a few days ago. You are right I am out of shape and going back to work in the shape that I am in would kill me. So I'm doing cardio and trying to loose some of this ''computer'' weight that i have gained. The doctor just gave me the go ahead to start exercising. Did I mention that I was out of shape ha ha

really matt that would be cool.....Thanks I would like to come back to BAKOTOPIA........

Matt I understand that Bakotopia isn't really a political site so I promise you Bakotopia that I will do my very best-est to lighten up and have fun.

Gotta go to noon meeting but look out I'll be back............

Thanks again Matt........
