Thread is Locked
Hey what does it mean when a thread is locked?  I mean obviously you can't comment on it, but who locks it and for what reasons?

I think the people running the blog lock it. I wouldn't blame the Tehachapi News if they were the ones that did it, that blog was getting out of control. It is one thing to voice your opinions to others but personal attacks is wrong.

i can understand why the News deleted a couple of my post  but not all they did. Any way i do have strong beliefs when it comes to illegal immigration. I do not believe we should shoot illegal immigrants. Come on who in their right mind would. I am not Shane. I just played along with Level4 when he started to say i was Shane. I am not a fireman and i am in no position to triage any one for i do not work in the medical profession. This is the last time i will say that i am sorry if i offended anyone for my intention was to poke fun at people that snub their noses at our immigration laws.

Ground Rules for posting comments:
  • No profanity or personal attacks.
  • Please comment on the subject of the post itself.

It seems many people fail to read what is above the comment box.

Gube, it;s great to have strong opinions but if you can't get your point across without personal attacks and bad language then you need to just keep your hands at your sides and step away from the computer.

I understand the rules of the blogging,  and to stop it or delete it, but to "lock" it  don't understand.  You can still what was written but you can not edit anything, including the individual blogger.  Did The News do this?  For experiment sake only, I am going to see if I can delete one of my own comments but threw my profile.  we'll see.

yes i can go into my personal comments profile and edit or delete by the way.  So does this mean it was the creator of the blog that "locked" it or Teh News?  I am thinking if it were the Teh News then I wouldn't be able to edit anything on that particular thread at all.  Ummm....

I don't understand it either. The TN has let jim's vulgar Christianity post go on but they decide to put a lock on this one.

Gube, yes I have strong opinions also (most of us do) but most of your comments were uncalled for and inappropriate. Your opinions do not bother me at all. There is nothing wrong with having different opinions or strong opinions but there is something wrong with attacking people and using vulgar language. That is what I take issue with.

get over it

again, like gube stated, what about jim's thread.....it's still going.  I mean he is talking to himself now, but when it was going strong, it was extremely heated and frankly vulgar language was used, and many, many personal attacks.  I expected TN to stop that one when it all started getting sexual and trouble came aboard.  Don't get me wrong, I thought it was very entertaining because as soon as I figured out that it was just for shock valued I played along.  And no offense gube, but gube says a lot for shock value.  So, again, why is one ok, and not the other if it is TN doing it.

Tehachapi News administrators reserve the right to lock a blog post. Locking simply means no additional comments may be left on that particular post. While we try to avoid taking such action, occasionally exchanges will become such between participants that the decision is made to either lock the post, or remove it entirely. We believe that locking a post is the lesser of two evils.

Again, we wish to stress that this is something we do not enjoy having to do, and it is something that can easily be avoided if individuals posting to this site respect the Terms of Service, starting with the two ground rules posted in the "Leave a Comment" box.

Thank you TN for responding.  I was curious on what was really going on.   And yes, I guess it is the less of two evils.  Thank you again.

So...why wasn't that "other" blog locked?
