Yes, good question Colitas. My theory is that because of staff shortages at the paper, they simply don't have the manpower to monitor all the comments anymore. Spam code: BERNT posted by

now Greg I don't know anything about running any of this, but I am not asking "them" for a comment. I want to leave a comment on like an obit. posted by

Right, but I'm guessing the paper still has to monitor all of the comments left by readers for content and language, just like they do with the blogs, and that takes time. posted by

The Man doesn't want our comments on their "news" stories. Waaay too much chance that someone will contribute some knowledge they don't want put out. We only get to play behind the walled-off ghetto of the blog index page....where it won't interfere with the Real Estate ads.... posted by

I wish someone from the paper would explain. There were comment sections for a few stories, like the depot burning. posted by

it's obvious why TN doesn't allow comments anymore. They threw the blog to the back of the site for a reason as well. Our comments do sometimes contain adult content and extreme truths. They probably don't want children or elderly conservatives to read, or complain to them about our very open and honest comments anymore.
