Wells School Meeting Update!

Whoops!!! I gave you the wrong date! The meeting for public input on "Surplus Real Property" belonging to the TUSD, including Wells and the old Jacobson Jr. High, is THIS Thursday, March 29, in the teachers lounge of the OLD Jacobson Jr. High, at 7 p.m.  Besides the issue of Wells School, we need to have something done with the old Jacobson.  We also, coincidentially, need our downtown elementary school back, so our downtown children don't have to be bussed out to Cummings Valley. Do you suppose they could use the old Jacobson for a new "Wells"? Come to the meeting and share your views.

Here's a link, or you find the agenda item on the School Board page, in the right-hand menu under "Agendas". Click on March 29,2007.

At the March 29th meeting, the committe on Surplus School District Property,  recommended that the TUSD board sell Wells School and use the money to renovate the old Jacobsen Jr. High for a K-5 school.  The City was mentioned as the most likely buyer.  There is a process that will have to take place, including negotiations on the price.  They have a new appraisal that is apparently more realistic than the first one they did several years ago.  The next meeting I know about will be an April 24th workshop on the old Jacobsen Jr. High.  This week's paper should have an article on all of this. Thank you all for your comments here.
