My Jehovah's Witnesses Halloween
Growing up with cult indoctrination scared to death of Armageddon turned me into a Watchtower Zombie

A Phobic World View

The first step that the Watch Tower takes in their indoctrination of their followers is to develop the concept of the "universal war" that all people are inevitably caught up in, namely, that Satan has declared war on Jehovah, and we are automatically on one side or the other; there are no fence-sitters. If you are not doing all that the organization asks, you are on the side of the devil. Everything outside of the Watch Tower is controlled by the devil, and all persons who are not Witnesses are misled by the devil and are bad or dangerous to associate with.

An unbalanced fear of the supernatural is encouraged. Witness children are told to avoid "worldly" magazines, movies, TV shows, music, etc. Any information critical of the Watch Tower is automatically evil and dangerous. Most doctors are evil for wanting to administer blood transfusions. Children have nightmares about mom or dad having to refuse a blood transfusion. Everything is made to appear as part of a large conspiracy to destroy Jehovah's Witnesses. Satan is feared totally out of proportion to the role as represented in the Bible.

Does any one know what the "New World Translations" is?

Years ago when i was 21 i was dating this chick and we did a little "studying" of the bible with some JW's, I knew these people where wack jobs from the get-go. I was raised in Episcopal Church and learned traditional bible teachings. The first thing those JW's did was tell me that most of what i was taught in my church was wrong They started with the trinity saying that was a lie and went on from there. they try-ed  to back all of it up with the bible. they told me that i was lied to and that they where there to tell me the truth. The Bible is confusing to me. They would read into things in the bible that wernt there. They would read something and tell me what it meant, then they would flip to another page and read something of that page to back up what they read of another page. And they had this weird '' feel '' about them. They sounded convincing and almost condescending. I wanted to get up and leave shortly after the '' study '' began but stayed to the end because i did not want to be rude. I was a nicer guy when i was younger. The girl i was dating her mom was really into the JW's and when the rest of her family wouldn't excepted and attend the JW meeting hall she disowned her kids, She said that the only way she would let her kids back into her life was if they would attend the kingdom hall and '' study '' the bible. That was one mixed up family. Instead of bringing that family together it split them apart. I don't believe that is gods intentions. The JW's are not well people. They are most certainly sheep, unfortionaly their being led to the slaughter house.

“You’ll never get sick.  You will never grow old. And you will never die.”

Although the above words come from the movie “Cocoon,” they could have come from the Watchtower Society because this is the same thing they have been proclaiming for decades as part of “the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked lawless system of things.” - Masthead of Awake! magazine

This very appealing prospect attracts many people to begin to study the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses.  It then sustains them as they eagerly wait for the fulfillment of this promise.

But during the course of their study they get drawn into an illusionary concept involving the Watchtower organization that gradually takes over their decision-making process and even their conscience without them realizing it.  It happens because of a mistake that everyone makes before they decide to become a Jehovah’s Witness.

"Captives of a Concept" identifies both the concept and the mistake that causes people to become captives of it.  The book also offers a few suggestions about how to help Jehovah’s Witnesses correct their mistake and teach themselves the truth about their religion.

"Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'"

    -- Bob Dylan

Read into the above lyrics what you choose.  Perhaps they serve as a message to the JWs on their future as an organization. Or perhaps they represent a message to you from God about yours.  You choose.

Who will be proven right and who wrong?  Who will look foolish and who will be vindicated?  And ultimately - regardless of which side is shown to be correct, the resolution of the conflict will be definitive.  Either the JWs/Watchtower will crumble and implode, or the system will end with destruction as JWs claim. Choose wisely.  The stakes are not inconsequential.

What is the message of Jehovah's Witnesses that they feel is so important that they must personally deliver it to your door step?Answer-The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower/Jehovah's Witnesses is that Jesus has already had his second coming in the year 1914.

That's it

I am in no way defending JW's. I hate organized religions, and I believe that even the mainstream ones isolate and cause emotional barriers. They all suck.

LOL, where I live, I don't worry about JW's knocking on my door...

While I don't believe in Halloween, the point clearly is that the Watchtower induces fear into its members as a means of control, which is a hallmark of what defines a cult.

http://www.quotes-watchtowe...

At the above link is a montage of pictures from WT publications to remind their followers what God will do to them at Armageddon if they are not "in Gods Organization" (the Watchtower).

ITs total control and manipulation by fear, and the WT has done a real psycological number on thousands of people over the past 100 yrs. in this very manner.

WHen those nicely dressed smiling people knock on your door with a WT offerring you paradise; beware.

I agree... most religions do use fear.  Most mainstream religions, however, do not isolate their members in a closed society where they must serve their publisher-master constantly or be viewed as "weak" in their "faith." Most don't destroy family by creating emotional barriers between husband and wife, parent and child.  I have a JW aunt who hasn't spoken to her adult son in 20 years.  How healthy is that!?

Happy Halloween!

JW's didn't corner the market on fear. ALL organized religions use fear.

Fear is the key with the Jehovah's Witnesses. Everything not from Brooklyn headquarters is of the devil. They are afraid of their own shadows, whereas Christians are not "afraid" of dark images, they simply have no power over them.
