What happened to the global warming post?
It seems yesterday's post about the Liberal left trying to get the rest of us to 'wake up' about global warming has been deleted.  It didn't appear to violate the newspapers guidelines.  Hmmm....

Anyway, here's another thought to chew on.  You can forecast all the doom and gloom you want about what is going to happen to the human race as the temperatures begin to rise, but the voices of reason state that the rise is natural, not man made.  So then the question becomes, exactly what do you propose to do about inhibiting the earth's natural processes?  Then, the second question becomes, don't you think that will cause more harm than good?  And lastly, who are we to try?

The earth has been around a little longer than mankind.  It has also gone through climate changes far more drastic than man has ever experienced.  It's gotten a lot hotter and a lot colder than we've ever known.  Isn't it a little pretentious of the human race to think that we can, or even should, try to 'tame' the earth?  If the naturally rising temperatures mean the eventual death of man kind, maybe we should look at a way of getting off this planet, instead of trying to force it to do what we want, and really only making it worse in the end.  I'm all for reducing pollution and emissions into the atmosphere and let's continue to find ways to reduce our impact upon the earth, but let's just get over the hype that we're causing the global temperature to rise.

Take a look up at the stars tonight, it may help put things in perspective.  The human race is smaller than the smallest grain of sand on the largest beach.  And as far as time is concerned, our solar system is an infant in terms of the universe, and mankind even younger than that.  Maybe mankind wasn't meant to be on this earth forever.  Maybe this is just a stepping stone to other planets, or even different planes of existence.  My advice is to just let the earth go through it's natural processes.  To try to do anything else is pretentious, hazardous, and wrong.

aero the independent who hates democrats.   lol

Greg, I don't know what happened to the person who started the Global warming blog...  maybe because she is a vampire she only comes out at night..  lol    I think she was a friend of Mimis'.. she was interesting to say the least!!!    Anyway...  I don't know if this is a left or right issue, I think we should all be concerned about global warming no matter who or what is causing it. So I didn't do my research on Republican or Democratic websites.  I went to reputable science websites like the one below.  I think the very least we can do is try to limit our affect on global warming. That is the very least I can do for our grandchildren.

NASA  http://www.nasa.gov/worldbo...

Most scientists believe global warming is happening, only a few scientists disagree.

Global warming is an increase in the average temperature of Earth's surface. Since the late 1800's, the global average temperature has increased about 0.7 to 1.4 degrees F (0.4 to 0.8 degrees C). Many experts estimate that the average temperature will rise an additional 2.5 to 10.4 degrees F (1.4 to 5.8 degrees C) by 2100. That rate of increase would be much larger than most past rates of increase.

Scientists worry that human societies and natural ecosystems might not adapt to rapid climate changes. An ecosystem consists of the living organisms and physical environment in a particular area. Global warming could cause much harm, so countries throughout the world drafted an agreement called the Kyoto Protocol to help limit it.

Climatologists (scientists who study climate) have analyzed the global warming that has occurred since the late 1800's. A majority of climatologists have concluded that human activities are responsible for most of the warming. Human activities contribute to global warming by enhancing Earth's natural greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect warms Earth's surface through a complex process involving sunlight, gases, and particles in the atmosphere. Gases that trap heat in the atmosphere are known as greenhouse gases

The main human activities that contribute to global warming are the burning of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas) and the clearing of land. Most of the burning occurs in automobiles, in factories, and in electric power plants that provide energy for houses and office buildings. The burning of fossil fuels creates carbon dioxide, whose chemical formula is CO2. CO2 is a greenhouse gas that slows the escape of heat into space. Trees and other plants remove CO2 from the air during photosynthesis, the process they use to produce food. The clearing of land contributes to the buildup of CO2 by reducing the rate at which the gas is removed from the atmosphere or by the decomposition of dead vegetation.

I just watched "An Inconvenient Truth" and found the science very sound. Would you point out where the facts were exaggerated or just plain wrong? With respect, aero, did you see the movie, or are you just parroting the neocon pundits' views about the movie?

oohchild  I saw it on showtime for the second time.   I don't think simply because Gore is a democrat that republicans should ignore what he is saying and most republicans are indeed listening.  People care about our planet, they are not going to let something as trivial as politics stand in the way of their good judgement especially when it concerns their children.   I'm doing more research on global warming now.   I will do my part to help, I do love our planet earth.

aero   the difference between me and you is that I tell the truth about who I am.   I am a democrat,  i am not pretending to be a independent.    And you have that wrong buddy .. there are not thousands of scientist who refute what Al Gore says, most agree with him.    Please show me the proof you have from a reliable source and i will eat crow for ya.   I have been researching this for months and i can't find anything to back your statement up.   and aero, I don't care if you are a conservative, heck i have many conservative friends... so be real, open up... no one will bash you for being who you really are.   I promise I won't.   And aero I am not alone, 50% of America are liberals!!!   (smile)   That would be half..  I think there is more, but I can't prove it.  lol

Well like I said yesterday, when someone can tell me how they know that the hole in the atmosphere was not there before satellities were taking pictures of earth I will believe in global warming. Also I would like to know where the people from the 70s and 80s are that said we were going into an ice age are today.

Here is the most comprehensive documentary I've seen that logically explains why global warming is not man made.
It's an hour and 15, so allow enough time to watch it, it'll be worth it.

There's aero's "thousands" again! LOL! I'm still waiting for some evidence, not some statistics you're throwing around. Y'know, 63% of all stats are made up! LOL!

Did you see the movie, aero? How 'bout, you, Jeremy?

Does anyone really think that driving less is going to help? Is spending trillions of dollars to reduce the smallest percentage contributor is going to make a difference in 3 lifetimes from now? What is the solution to China bringing 2 coal power plants a month on line? Maybe we can all buy some carbon coupons and do what we want? Greg is correct, the earth climate will continue along as it has for billions of years and we are just a speedbump along the way!!

Why is everyone acting like global warming only started with "An Inconvenient Truth." I took plenty of college classes where those same charts and graphs used in Al Gore's movie were used as examples of the TRUTH of man-made, yes, man-made global warming before anyone had seen the movie. Just because Gore got it out to the mainstream does not mean it is a media frenzy and a leftist movement. The trends in the global temperatures rise and fall, ice ages, etc. But the numbers we are looking at now are incredibly high, and it is due to emissions made by man. There are so many anti-global warming organizations that try to sell us on, "trees need carbon dioxide to breathe"  and "We are helping the cycle of life."

Well, we aren't when we are still sabotaging rain forests and relying on oil rather than renewable resources. It is not a conspiracy.

Greg  I will check that out, thanks any info is good info, I am just seeking the truth.

aero   I didn't call you a liar I simply suggested that you may be a ... how did Blaze phraze it... "closet conservative.  I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

aero, just because you are pro choice does not make you part liberal... you could be pro choice simply to keep the non white population down for all I know.   I have yet to see one pro liberal statement or blog come from you.  You always post anti liberal blogs and statements. Thus, I don't think I am way off base thinking that you are not an independent and that you actually hate liberals.   Heck anyone that reads your blogs or statements would think that.    And geez so what if you are a conservative, you should be proud of it.  Look at these other conservatives here, they know who they are and they are extremely proud.  They want people to know who they are.   It's called Pride.   I respect that in them even if we do disagree on many issues.

Maybe I'm wrong... maybe we should do a blog on whether people think you are a conservative or independent???   What do you think?  lol   I'm teasing you aero.   Again I'm sorry for hurting your feelings.

I won't watch the movie because it was made by Al Gore who is not credible. If he really believed the crap that he is spewing, he would practice what he preaches. He has two opportunities to do that. First, it has been identified that the beef industry contributes more carbon to the atmosphere than all the cars on the planet combined. PETA has pointed this out to Gore and called on him to become a Vegan or a Vegetarian to help the planet. But he won't. Secondly, his main residence has 20 times the carbon footprint than the national average. He was challenged by Oklahoma Senator James Inhofe to reduce his carbon footprint down to the national average and he refused. Instead he buys carbon credits, a luxury only the rich can afford. So what Al is really saying is all of the changes we should make to "save the earth" should be done by us...not him. He chooses to just buy his way out of his own responsibility to reduce pollutants.

Sparks I have noticed that you accuse people of hate when they disagree with you. You said today that aero hates Democrats and you accused Canibeyou of hating you yesterday.

Oh my, Blaze - how does this response from Gore to Inhofe equate to refusal?

"We live a carbon neutral life, Senator, and both of my businesses are carbon neutral. We buy green energy. We do not contribute to the problem that I'm joining with others to try to help solve. We pay more for clean energy, and I think that utilities ought to provide more green energy that doesn't produce CO2, and we are in the midst of installing solar panels."

Did you watch the testimony yourself, or did you just catch the Fox News roundup?

And if you won't watch the movie, how do you know the "crap he is spewing?"

Aero you always fall back on the same "you're attacking me", "you called me a liar" argument when someone makes an intelligent response to your posts.  Just an FYI, that doesn't work, its not true and what you write speaks for itself.  Sparks didn't call you anything.  She refuted your statements intelligently and took the time to back up her own.

As for global warming, I'm still on the fence about the whole  thing.  Assuming it's true that humans can affect the weather of the entire planet by fertilizing crops, raising cattle, spewing industrial pollution, and driving their SUV's all over the place I don't see how its realistic to stop it.  These are things that people cannot or will not do without.  Al Gore himself shows that by refusing to sacrifice anything and he's the one who is supposed to be the poster child for why we should all be worried about it.

The affect on economies by trying to force reduced emissions for everything would not be good either.  That will end up raising manufacturing costs, transportation costs, agricultural costs, etc.  When everything costs twice as much because it costs twice as much to produce, and they can't supply as much "stuff" will everyone still be on the "save us from global warming" cause?  I doubt it.   As much of this pollution comes from third world nations just entering their industrial revolutions, who are we to say "You can't do that now!  Its ruining the planet!"  We went through our own industrial revolution and no one told us to stop.  And wouldn't we have laughed at anyone who tried to tell us to?

I'm with Greg.  Humans are a speck in the scheme of things.  We will either adapt to the changes or we will go the way of the dinosaur.  I'd like to think we have the big advantage of intelligence on our side.
