Hall Ambulance
Help! We need to get organized as rural communities to improve our emergency medical services. Has anyone ever heard of a county taxing a community to hire a private contractor (HALL) to improve emergency medical services? On June 12th the County Board of Supervisors will propose a $125 increase in property taxes for Pine Mountain to improve our emergency medical service. If it happens here to Pine Mountain, it will set the stage for all of Kern Couty rural areas. 20 comments from 11 users

Funny, I thought these were "special" communities to Harvey EGO Hall. I did not know a private contracter could impose a parcel tax to provide a private service. I also thought Harv was in this to be a special person... My other question is it sounds like Halls is running the company, wouldn't that be a conflict of interest with his other job as the mayor??

Horseshoe, could you please explain the basis for your statement "....Mr. Hall runs the county except for the county fire department." I'm not disagreeing with displeasure in Halls Ambulance Service coverage for Tehachapi, but unsupported general statements which seem to just be pointed nasty remarks at Mr. Hall don't help the situation. I greatly sympathize with your loss, but emotion may be driving the statement in question. Again, if you can provide support to show "Mr. Hall runs the county...." I'd like to know what it is. I hope the real estate business is going well up in Pine Mountain--a very nice place.

Hi, You're right about unsupported statements. I get upset with myself when I do it. My statement comes from watching and reading about the interactions of Mr. Hall with the Board of Supervisors, the Department of Emergency Medicine, and even our own Board of Directors here in Pine Mountain. I have been to many meetings over the last couple of years and Mr. Hall and his PR folks always seem to end up with what they want. Even the issue of conflict of interest seems unresolved in my head. It will be very interesting next week to see what the Board of Supervisors does with the proposal to increase Pine Mountain property tax to pay for better service from Hall. Real estate is ok here and it is a beautiful place. Karen posted by

I see the hillbillies are back in force. It is HALL AMBULANCE not HALLS. Read the side of the ambluance next time you see a Hall Ambulance. That is if you passed third grade and can read.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this only cover Hall Ambulance, or does it also cover Paramedics, fire, etc? "On June 12th the County Board of Supervisors will propose a $125 increase in property taxes for Pine Mountain to improve our emergency medical service" posted by

Anonymous-Mr. Hall obviously still manages his ambulance company so I think it is entirely appropriate to refer to his ambulance company as Hall's. As far as the tax is concerned, the people in Pine Mt. would be pretty stupid to approve this tax increase just to have it go into Hall's pocket. It would be much wiser to vote to have the money go to the county fire department to start a firefighter paramedic program that wouldn't benefit just one person (HALL) but would benefit the whole community. Vote no for Halls and end this stupidity. posted by

Red, in case you have not realized this, we are all virtually anonymous, including yourself. Unless you use your real name and a real photo of yourself (like Karen.....and, is that really Karen..... in this particular case it is), Red=coolfire=anonymous=doesnotgetit=etc. The only difference is that you can send an e-mail through a proxy e-mail server as far as I can tell. So throwing the word cowardly around is really a stretch. I could be anyone here, and take some other identity, as many have done on the News site. Anonymous does not = cowardly. It is just another name. Use your imagination. As far as working for Hall Ambulance, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, I live in New York most of the year and Idaho other parts, so "this" anonymous is not even in the area (AND, "this" anonymous is not the same as the "other" anonymous who wrote here. Views expressed are views expressed, just that. They are stated and we move on--on a blog, does it matter who stated them? If it does, we are all in trouble.

It doesn't matter if we call it Hall, Halls or a big scam, it is all the same. The tax payers of this County should not be paying to help a private company to do its job. Mayben gets to vote on this as well as Watson, us in Tehachapi need to call Mayben and let him know how we feel about this tax. His office number is 868-3660 or 823-0154. Please call and ask him to vote NO on this special tax! Please take a look at the Grand Jury report before you call. Here is a link---> http://www.co.kern.ca.us/gr...

Shane is right! Hall/Halls/Hogwash. It doesnt matter what the ambulance is called. As to the conflict of interest. Read this: www.emsa.cahwnet.gov/legislation/ch1_conflict.pdf (There is a underscore between the 1 and the c) It is from the Calfornia EMSA website and it is the rules that ALL Ambulances companies in California have to go by called Title 22. Hope that helps. The tax in Pine Mountain I think is being propsed due to the call volume in Pine Mountain does not even cover the cost of putting a ambulance up there part time, let alone full time. I know out in East Kern the Muroc Hospital District buys a ambulance then leases it to Hall Ambulance. All Hall does is staff it and do maintenance on it. The Hospital District also provides the building and Hall pays the utilities and furnishes it. Not a bad trade for a ambulance in far end East Kern County. posted by

Hey Red sure glad you're not hiding behind some anonymous name like maybe Red. Everyone knows who Red is right? doesnotgetit seems to have missed out on elementary English so I guess I will forgive him/her for that. Shane its Maben not Mayben. posted by

Maben, Mayben- Hall, Halls no one cares that's not what this blog is about. trucker1- Did you know that even with all the extras Muroc Hospital District gives Hall he still does not keep that ambulance in Boron? Case in point, just 10 minutes ago the Boron Ambulance responded from Mojave. It was there covering the entire desert. He will do the same in PMC! posted by

I am sorry for posting as anonymous . I do it because I have no backbone. Yes I live in New York and part time in Idaho, but I have no life. Thats why I make commits in a town newspaper thats many miles from my home. Please forgive me for correcting everyone's grammar and spelling, it makes me feel better to make you guys look dumb. I encourage Horseshoe to delete me from this thread. Once again please forgive me, my shrink is trying to get me on the right meds, but has been unsuccessful so far. When I grow up I will post under a real pic and profile.
