Holiday Grocery Shopping
Did anyone go grocery shopping the day before or the day of Christmas? I did and I read through three magazines and called a long distance relative all during the very very long wait in line.

It's amazing that no matter how well you think you have everything planned you always forget at least one major ingredient, especially during the holidays.

I went today during my lunch hour. I bought a bunch of stuff seeing that the weather looks like it is going to storm. I spent almost $200. and forgot the dog food! Now I have to stop after work and I hate that. It was pretty busy at 1pm.

Yeah, I was right in line also. But, how about ANOTHER supermarket here? The lines are getting longer every day at both of our local supermarkets.  We NEED another supermarket. Even if it's Wal-Mart. The question is, WHEN?

I went on Monday, but I was planning to all along & was prepared for a long line. It really wasn't too long though, I think I waited about 15 minutes to get to the register.

What got me giggling (to myself) was the couple behind me. He had just pulled his cart behind mine, and then his wife showed up. She started giving him a hard time for picking our particular line to the register. Pointed to several other lines that were moving faster (like that makes a difference overall), or telling him someone had offered to let them in line "down over there." She continued to complain until I got to the counter & started to put my items on the conveyor belt. When I was done I looked back to see if they needed room to start unloading their cart, only to see him lower his head & push their cart to another line. Wow!

I can just imagine what she's like on a 6 lane freeway during rush hour! Eek!

I went this morning and had no trouble at all.  The line was a little long- or maybe it just seemed long because my son was trying his hardest to get out of the cart and pull down everything along the sides of the checkout.

I can't stand listening to couples fight in public!  And nagging wives should really keep their mouths shut (all the time, preferably).  If I were that husband, I'd just let her go shopping alone so she can do everything her way.  I figure, if my husband wants to complain about the way I do something, then he can do it himself- and vice versa.  Keeps any nagging to a minimum.

I didn't have any trouble with crowds for my holiday grocery shopping -- but I always do my shopping on Sunday night.  Every week, between 8:00pm and 9:00pm, and Albertsons is always empty. This past weekend, I did have a lot of trouble finding the items I wanted though!  The shelves were bare! It got to be almost funny by the end, because they were out of SO many things! You could not have paid me to go back on Christmas eve, so we improvised on a few recipes.

And gillfish - I realized tonight I am out of cat food!  I HATE that I will have to go into Albertsons or Kmart tomorrow just for that! The $9 bag of cat food will end up costing me $30 by the time I get out of there, I just know it!

I too found myself at Albertsons on Christmas eve but didn't think the wait was much longer than normal. We did make the mistake of going to K-Mart where the usually long wait was almost unbearable-while the store manager opened a new register and told the employee to just 'take your time'. They followed that directin very well-lol
