Green Beans, Dirty Jeans, and Tracker

I'm in NC for my summer vacation. But I'll admit, this is no normal vacation. I was up a 6 a.m. and by 6:30 a.m. I was out helping my Dad pick green beans. He has 3 long rows and by 11:30 a.m we picked over 3 bushels. I tell you the truth, I picked the most green beans today than I have picked all my life. Come Saturday, we'll do it again.

With all that work in the garden today my jeans got really dirty. And to top that off, Daddy's two beagles loved to run up and down between the muddy rows and jump on me. They were having so much fun. Of course, the dog lover I am, I didn't mind at all.

Then there is Tracker. Tracker, one of Dad's beagles, does something I've never seen a dog do before. When he gets to hot, he just jumps into his big tub of drinking water and cools off. And drinks from it too. I'll try to get a picture of that for you.

Job, you bring back memories of when I used to pick and shell lima beans with my grandmother.   I rememeber the mud squeezing between my toes, the buzz of insects and the earthy smell of fertile soil.  And how much my back ached when I straightened up...sitting in the metal lawn chairs shelling the husks and rinsing the lima beans. And the cat rubbing between my legs the entire time.... cutting and stewing the rubbard for dessert....post lots of pictures!

Oh the food is to die for! Along with what you mentioned StoriLori, I've been eating venison sausage too and it tastes very good. Mom made some elk meatloaf and it was sooooo good.  I'm going Striper Bass fishing Thursday.

Today I shot over 100 rounds in my Dad new sniper rifle. I worked up a custom load so good that I can hit a Gnat off a the head of a pin at 100 yards every time. No kidding! Awesome rifle!

Job, that's nuts. I wonder, how do you get the gnat to stay on the pin head? Yuck, yuck. I went to Mama Hilly Billy's tonight, I went early though, for a plethora of reasons, I met Paul, the poet, then I had to go. Maybe you'll surprise us someday. The thing is back there, your probably pretty active, so the food must be doubly better!

Wow, hopefully you can understand all that, through my lovely grammar.

Where were you Lori? I was there with a friend around 6 pm for chili and cornbread then left 1/2 thru open mike.  Yasobich was there, madcow and her handsome boy, Sparks and a few poet bloggers who names I forgot.
