Blog or Slog?
I agree with jimr, this blog site has been "hijacked". It doesn't seem to be as enjoyable anymore. So what do you guys think? Does the TN have some responsibilty in keeping it from going so far off-track? I can't believe they allowed the one blog to go over 20+ pages. Not only was it offensive to some, it became very very redundant. I've noticed a lot of the bloggers who really had opinions worth reading aren't posting/commenting any longer. People are so brave sitting behind a computer screen. No, my name isn't on my profile, but I'll tell it to anyone who asks. Any answers? 13 comments from 10 users

I think the problem is there are just more people who don't share your opinions and that is making you upset.

Joty, I think the blog site has just taken a turn. It will for a while and then another good subject will come up and hopefully be informative. The 20 + page one doesn't bother me. I periodically go on to say blah, blah, just so his blog will grow. (I think that makes him happy to see his numbers climb, who cares?) I tried talking to him and getting one line comments calling me a liberal communist. But as WAWA can tell, I'm not that liberal. I can be liberal in some areas and quite conservative in others. I like to laugh, I like to argue/debate. There are some blogs that are so long and so full of these words that nobody actually ever uses, so I take one look at those and run to a blog that is more entertaining. It's a "website", any website should be patrolled to a certain degree, but I think people should continue to be able to comment and blog on what they want. posted by

Thanks for all the comments guys. Even you WAWA, though you are full of it. Actually, there are more people who share my views than yours. I promise never to confuse you with the other Jims Bigdog, especially the looney one. I agree with you on a lot of the lenghty posts. Sometimes I wonder if the writers sit there with a dictionary so they can pretend to be intellectual. I also think a lot of people argue for the sake of arguing. Oh well, I enjoy the blogs more than not, so I'm staying. posted by

I've only been here a few months and I've seen some outrageous posts but, sometimes those are the most fun. I really don't like it when it gets mean. I've been on the receiving end of meanness a couple times and honestly, I felt so misunderstood. BooHoo. When I first logged on I responded to someone kind of smart alacky and got knocked down. It was a good lesson because that just doesn't come across as funny. I may be one of those "too long" bloggers. I love words ..... I do think this site has its ups and downs. It may be on the down curve at the moment. I've tried to write something on the presidential election, front runners Rudy and Hilliary, but thought I'd just put that off awhile. Feel a little leery. I really like the Tehachapi political stuff: fire department, police department, the city board calling each other names. I hope we continue to get Jimr and Shane giving those updates. When I was a girl, my mother was so irritating because she kept using words I didn't understand. It was very Auntie Mameish with the "look it up in the dictionary," advice. As a mother, I heard myself saying the same to my daughter. Ya know, the apple falling, blah, blah so is true. But, I'm actually looking forward to doing some dictionary work with my grand daughter. Poor little thing, she's only 20 months old and I'm already getting ready for this fun exercise. This may not be everyone's cup of tea - but it is a great education and FREE. Love that. I'll read almost eveyone's posts but I have a couple exceptions. jim is the first one because he has some crazy obsession about his/your/my anus. Sam is the other because if you post an opposing view on his site, he deletes it. So I use my boycott choice. I'm currently staying and we'll see what the future brings. posted by

I've been sitting back and reading the blogs for a long while now. I never really felt the need to put in my two cents until lately but I really think that's more of a slow day at work forcing that than anything else. Like alot of people here, I opted not to use my pic and name on my profile simply because its a small town, my views are probably drastically different than most peoples and that could have disastrous effects on my career. When I did decide to post I realized (and quickly) that if what I have to say is not what everyone else agrees that I will be attacked with insults and anger. Luckily, I do not care what anyone says or thinks but I really wonder how often someone has come here to voice their opinion only to be attacked. I'm sure some people take these things to heart and I feel for the people that have probably been hurt/upset by words spoken through this medium. It very much seems that there is a small group of regular bloggers that seem to think they 'own' this medium and their opinions are the only ones that hold any merit. If people stuck to the subjects rather than resorting to personal attacks and name calling this would be a better place for all. TN has a responsibility to uphold some standard in this blogging community which I think they do fairly. I have not seem them delete an unfair amount of comments or posts. It would be more upsetting to see posts constantly deleted than the random ones which don't get deleted and probably should. posted by

I read the blogs off and on. I don't have time to be here to much because of work and school, but when I am able to get here and read some of the blogs most of them are about politics or religion and I'm bored to death with religion and politics so I don't post much any more. I think the arguments are funny sometimes; so I kick back and read them; I just get a good chuckle, go on with my life, and realize its not to bad. Happy Friday all........ posted by

I started looking at blog comments about 5 weeks ago and as soon as I got a profile, the whole "crazy jim" thing happened. Mostly, I like looking at what "olivia" "big dog" jim and "jewls" are going to say. They make me laugh! And I also agree allot with Joty's point of view. But that doesn't mean I pass up the longer blogs. I like to keep up with what happens in our town. I recently have a new job which doesn't allow me to spend much time at home, so it's nice to hear a lot of humor in some comments. Its fun and entertaining. And even though it feels on a down slope at the time, I agree with "big dog", it will pick up again!
