Handy Tip for the New Year
I didn't get Christmas cards out this year so in lieu of them, I will share valuable information so that everyone can hear from me pursuant to the holidays. Here goes and a Happy New Year!
Barak Obama is not a Muslim and did not, and does not plan to, "swear an oath of office on The Koran".
Ollie North did not warn us about Osama Bin Ladin, or even mention his name at the Iran Contra hearings, nor was he ever questioned by Al Gore, nor did Bill Clinton cut a deal to release Mohammed Attah with the Israelis.
The Democratic Senators named in that familiar e mail who are purported to have "voted against English as the official language" voted yes for English to be declared "the common and unifying language" of the United States and for it's use to be encouraged.
There IS NO "beta test" and NOBODY, not Bill Gates, AOL, Intel or anyone else, is going to give you or me free money for forwarding an e mail.
The little girl with the red hair and freckles is not "missing" and she never was. If there are any kids who are missing, sick, dying of cancer or anything else you are unlikely to learn about them in an e mail from strangers so please don't forward it.
There is no such thing as Senate Bill 602P: U.S. Postal Tax on Email. Don't bother writing your congressman.
There are always computer viruses circulating so please don't warn me about them, just keep your anti virus updated and I will do the same.
The ACLU has not gone before the Supreme Court, or any other court, to prevent Marines from "bowing their heads in prayer" to "remove crosses from cemeteries" or to create a holiday during the Christmas season for Atheists. You can relax now!
The University of Kentucky has not banned Holocaust studies and has no such intention.
The humongous blonde chick is not really that big and neither is the Grizzly Bear, The Hog, the Cat, the gigantic Dog named Hercules or anything else you received that looked too big to be real.
Nobody cares if "Patrick Henry thought this should be "a Christian Nation". Patrick Henry opposed the ratification of the Constitution and was voted down. The USA is not, and has never been "A Christian Nation".
Facebook is not overpopulated and there are no man eating cat fish.
I hope these helpful tips will help you intuitively know what NOT to forward to friends wasting massive amounts of bandwidth this year and I hope to see you in 08.
Happy New Year,
Larry Brown

All my emails that are fwds go directly to my spam box... This is easy to do by simply typing in fwd as one of the words in an email that you WILL NOT ACCEPT in your spam preferences. I loath fwds, Why do people think that simply because THEY find something interesting, that I will as well? It couldn't be farther from the truth. I have Never read a fwd that I enjoyed reading, I have actually stopped responding to people who send me junk mail. My time is too valuable to waste on fwds/junk mail. If you want to tell me something... tell me... don't waste your time looking for junk to fwd me that I won't read anyway....lololololol ya boneheads. Love the post Larry posted by

Howdy My New Neighbors, Soon To Be, Thanks for responding and for the kind words. While most of the forwards I receive, I have either seen 37 times or are garbage or BOTH, I do occasionally get something important or worthwhile and moreover, I just don't trust the technology to not kick out something I really want. I pretty much just go down the list of what comes in and delete as I go. Also, being the political junky that I am, I relish the opportunity to get one of these lame fabricated smear forwards with nine million names on the list and "reply to all" that they are full o' beans! I might seem like Don Quixote tilting at windmills but the pathetic reality is that there are a whole bunch of dunderheads out there who get this cr*p in their e mails and read it, believe it, and vote accordingly. Call this my tiny little contribution to factual dialog. *S* One time I got the one about Ollie North warning us about Bin Ladin at the Iran Contra hearings and I replied to all with a copy and paste from the "Urban Legends" site and I got the nastiest note back from the nephew of a guy I know down in Texas who called me "Frenchy" and "a surrender monkey". I asked him if he thought folks who preferred to debate truths all had a proclivity for surrendering and were all of French decent and he e mailed me back "take me off your e-mail list". Argggggg *$&%##$%^ I wrote him back and told him "he wasn't on it" LMAO! I am addicted to controversy I guess. Anyhow, really fun reading all your posts and I hope to meet you all in person one of these days. Comin up next (1/14/08) week to start putting up fences for the ponies and hope to be living there by mid summer. Thanks again and give'em hell, Larry *wink* posted by

I too enjoyed your post. AND - I loved all the myth buster info. I've heard all these things via dinner discussions and e-mail. Sometimes I try to explain reality and sometimes I just laugh. I have told all my "used to be friends" that I don't read their forwards. They still send them. So, a last summer I sat down and wrote a nice up-date on my life in Tehachapi since we moved here full time three years ago. It was maybe 500 words - health scares, the birth of our fabulous granddaughter, the massive planting we've done on our acreage and our continuing work on this #$^%&(&*)( house. I then told my LA friends that I've known for nearly 20 years that I would love hearing back from them, with news about them, their work, their families, activities and friends. But would not read any dumb "FWD" stuff called things like "best friends week" or "women unite" or "thinking of you." I explained that forwarding that stuff tells me they don't have enough time to either write or call me about their life and they are obviously no longer interested in mine. I got one short note saying she agreed. That was it. I got cards from everyone this holiday but I didn't reciprocate. Like you said - I'm too busy to spend time trying being friends with someone who doesn't want to be.
