Hate mail
I'm getting hate mail, via my personal e-mail address, from some idiot on this blog site. Any one else a victim of the crazies out there? I'm contacting the paper in order to make sure this problem is addressed, but want to know if anyone else has had this experience. 15 comments from 10 users

Lori, Take a deep breath and think about why you might be getting email that upsets you. Some of the vile messages you are putting out on the blog invite such bitter feelings. You are obviously a mixed up person. It might be best for your fragile emotional state to stay off the blog for a while. posted by

Aero - ya know - I'm just liking you more and more. Thanks for the support. It is very true - my patience with racists are minimal. The only really angry comments I made were against the horror of hating someone because they have an accent - and apparently work at Jack in the Box. To me, in my world, that's crazy and really the start of thoughts that end up with people killing each other. It's so mean. As you know, we've all discussed illegal immigration until it hurts. But, when it turns to such awful hatred, my ire is raised. Again, thanks for your support. As I've told you before - I know I'm talking with someone well read and intelligent when you and I disagree (and occasionally agree !!!). It makes a huge difference. Now - I was not aware someone could get to my e-mail address. Naive. How do I get it off the site? My "hater" is creepy. posted by

BTW, no e-mail is completely anonymous, anything can be traced back to it's origin. Also, hate email is a crime and can be prosecuted. Suggested hate email reporting: L.A. office of the FBI, http://losangeles.fbi.gov/ Internet Crime Complaint Center, http://www.ic3.gov/ Lori, you have my support too! posted by

I've re-read my comments. I am such a smart aleck. If only my mother was alive today to know that little personality trait is still alive and well. But vile? I'm not agreeing with that. Vile (my opinion) is hating someone because they come across the Jack in the Box speaker poorly. So how's this? Those speaker/walkie-talkie things at drive thru "restaurants" are 19th century technology and should all be replaced. It is difficult to understand what anyone is saying - it's a miracle when I actually receive what I was sure I ordered. The people at the other end can't understand you and you can't understand them. I think we should send those speaker/walkie-talkie things back from where ever they came. Do you think they could be foreigners? posted by

Sorry to hear about this Lori - Funny how we were going along fine with different points of view, learning something new from all the named bloggers on a variety of subjects and the latest rash of anonymous posters has really injected the hate level. Perhaps the Tehachapi News can limit anonymous postings and/or require actual registration / login creation. posted by

Red - support comes from the best, and most unusual places. Thank you. Where you been? I've notified the Tehachapi News and they are all over it. I doubt I'll hear from my own personal "hater" for awhile. We'll see. It was creepy but no big worries - unless a crime scene becomes involved. TeeHee (sorta!). So, just finished watching an interesting movie called "Fur" with Robert Downey Jr. The photo of Rosie hit my funny bone big time. If you like the unusual, this is a good movie - but be prepared for a very furry plot. I like Rosie, and was delighted to see some of the out takes of her fight with the dumb little republican. Sorry she had to slink into the darkness. I guess the consensus is Rosie went too far. But goodness, isn't that her MO? What's the surprise? How 'bout the fact that for the most part, she was right? OK - in my opinion.

Lori, This is kind of like the pro-lifers bombing and killing innocent people at abortion clinics. The vast majority of us, right or left, do NOT condone this sort of thing. I have enjoyed reading your posts on this blog a very lot. Don't let some idiot get in the way of voicing your opinion. In fact, it is anonymous that looks like the only coward and embarrassment to this blog thus far. I love Rosie, the crazier the better!!! She says how it is. I hate it when she takes the appropriate amount of meds, gets in the way of her wonderful opinions. I must say even though aero and I disagree on many issues he has always been fair when it comes to free speech on this blog. He's a good man, he has proven that a few times on this blog already.

Sparks, good to hear from you again. I'm afraid I'm biased when it comes to strong women. I like them even when I disagree with them. Just like to see strong, opinionated, boisterous, intelligent women out there in the public. Rosie has taken some hard hits. Some fair, lots - not so much. Like Hillary, and Martha Stewart, and many many others. I know they are frequently not very popular but that just makes me more supportive. I worked in senior management for many years and usually within the good-ole-boys network. So, my bias is not surprising. It was sooooooooooo much hard work. I walked away respected and even admired in some of those mahogany row offices. But, it just tightens your jaw. It is nice when the individuals on this site have been so supportive on the hate mail issue. I was delightfully surprised from some of the people who responded. Even after this experience, I think we need to respond strongly to individuals that spout just plain, pure and undiluted hatred. Disagreeing and having a lively debate does not include the kind of writing that was sent to me and about me. So, the end of this will be my continuing writing about subjects that are important to me and responding to others on this site doing the same. Thanks to everyone and - ya know - keep up the blogging. posted by

I, too had a similar situation. I had people attacking me personally instead of the issue, saying I was someone I wasn't, and threatening my family. I had to report it because it finally became too much. I even hid my profile because there are some crazy people on here who just don't know what debate is. If you don't agree with them then they will attack you in any way they can. I hope you eventually resolve your problem and that the hater will learn his/her lesson.
