So Let Me Get This Straight
According to General Petraeus, because the serge is working, we can start sending our troops home and that would be 30,000 by next June. Here are a few problems with this seriously demented logic. First: the serge was needed to secure Baghdad. Remember? So we could give alMaliki breathing room to create a political solution. Dear General; we can remember back to this past spring. So Anwar Province is more secure but Baghdad continues to be a mess. And the Iraqi politicians went on vacation because, well, apparently it's really hot in Iraq in August, so no political solutions have been acheived. So, by the standards set by yourself and Bush, the serge is most certainly not a success. Second problem: if the serge was working but the work designated for the serge was seriously incomplete, why would we reduce our serge efforts? Successful efforts, in my experience, are continued until finished. Well, as most of us know - the troops can't be sustained any longer than next April so we are given this fairy tale instead. Apparently, General Patraeus, you were able to fool only our idiot president, or was this his logic? Third: Let me get this one correct as presented ..... Hooray for us, the serge is working and as a gift to our military and their families they will draw down troops ..... to the level they were at prior to the serge. And I just love this, they'll bring home those troops in total by June 2008, when originally the serge was to last til fall of 2007. The remaining 138,000 troops will stay in Iraq for an undetermined period of time because, well, there is no plan past the fabulous serge. Fourth: Dear General Patraeus ..... shame, shame, shame: Your bringing home troops at the end of this month (one battalion) because the serge is working? Don't present information in a light that is flat out twisted .... those troops had been scheduled to come home for several weeks prior to your decision and your presentation of September 11th. And saying, "well, I could have kept them longer," doesn't excuse this lie in sheep's clothing. Fifth: It is clear to me that this administration and his recently appointed generals, judge us by their own IQ standard Sixth: How dare you present this "report" on and around 9/11. The Iraqi war has nothing to do with this tragedy and this scheduling makes you look manipulative. This timing was no accident. This pure, undiluted crap, wrapped in a gold package (and I mean real gold worth several hundred billion dollars) and tied with a pretty ribbon still stinks up the joint. The only reason the troops are coming home is because they have been there for 15 mths- they would have to extend their tour to 18 to 24 mths to leave them there.
But we can't win a civil war, history has shown that...and we should have not gone in the first place. I knew the day Bush got elected we would be at war with someone. He gravely underestimated the tenacity of the religious zealots. Isn't it interesting most wars are started by religious groups or are in the name of religion? The Democrats (today's Communists) (today's open borders crowd), will get us all killed. They are the last people to trust to protect my family. The Democrats teach sodomy to America's elementary school children. The open borders crowd allow thousands of criminals over the border, including Alkaida, and then complain when our military is eliminating thousands of Alkaida in Iraq and all over the world. The open borders crowd represents the height of incompetence and treason.

ya and the republicans practice family values in public bathroom stalls. We did what we went over there to do. And that was to kill Saddam Hussein, He's dead. bring our troops home now.we been there long enough in fact we never should have gone there in the first place. Bush sucks! He is getting our solders killed for what ? And how many more of our kids have to die for a country that is just going to go to hell any way. It will no matter if we pull out now or wait five more years Iraq is going to go to hell. Looks to me that Bush is the last person you would want to ''protect'' your family. He's a idiot and hes the one getting your sons and daughters killed. Oh ya I forgot the republicans have family values.

Jim - talk about twisted subjects and very poor critical path thinking. My subject is the troop serge and that has nothing to do with open borders. Just to make sure you get some facts right, your republican president is in favor of amnesty and open borders. And during this republican administration our borders, both north and south, have seeped hundreds of thousands of unknowns into our country. And did ya know, the Governor of California is republican also. Your rant against democrats is completely off track. Bush is not making you safe from anything - the insurgents and the followers of our enemy Bin Laden have spread like wild fire from Afghanistan (because Bush didn't finish that war and redeployed most troops to Iraq), into Pakistan, Iran and now, as we know, into Iraq .... where they were not before we invaded. We are less safe than pre-Bush. This president and his band of fools is obviously working the numbers in order to leave his mess to the next administration. It will very likely be a democrat that cleans up the mess(es) made by this republican administration. And holy cow, what's this stuff about democrats teaching sodomy to children? Educational system elites don't make their political party affiliations known so, again blaming democrats for elementary school curriculum is a line that does not connect. And - silly jim, sodomy is not taught to school children - not by democrats and not by republicans. You have to go to church to get that kind of information. posted by

The democrats have been trying to impose homosexuality (sodomy) on the boy scouts for 15 years or so. Are you a democrat? Don't assume I favor the Republican party. Are you part of the open borders crowd or not? Do you want Alkaida eliminated or not? The troop surge is for the purpose of eliminating Alkaida. Homosexuality does not know political parties. The Boy Scouts is more closely affiliated to religious organizations. Is your homophobia connected to the scouts now ... in addition to the schools? Just for the record, I am not a registered democrat. If you want to discuss the borders, please make your own post and go for it. I for one, will add my response. Now, Al Queda - we all want them eliminated. That would be republicans, democrats and homosexuals. The place to start/finish would be Afghanistan. It is religious insurgents making Iraq dangerous - and their war is a civil one and requires a political solution. Unfortunately, the Iraqi political leaders are very happy with their civil war because, with American dollars, we are making them very rich. As an aside - the progress being made in Anwar Province is being done so by cozying up to the religious leaders and working with them against Al Queda. We are pouring millions into this area. Unfortunately, these are the same people blowing up our troops in Baghdad. When we leave this province, this money and weaponry will be turned against us. EXACTLY like what happened in Afghanistan when we supported Bin Laden against the Russians. Can't our leaders ever learn from history? posted by

I seriously question if you are able, but I encourage you to tell us how you feel about General Pataeous' report on the war in Iraq. This General and the president mean to keep our troops engaged in Iraq until they leave office. That would be February of 2009.
