SSSHHHHHHHHHH
I sent my good thoughts for the day to someone in need so, I too, am left to deal with a rant without the needed peace and calmness to deal. Someone, anyone, give me the reason why, why, why .... people talk during the movie!!!!!!! Took a night out and went into The Hitching Post for the latest Clooney movie. Love that good looking man. My husband is OK with that - Clooney is obviously not up to trying to get me to stray. TeeHee Not a particularly difficult movie to follow. Kinda goes back and forth in time but nicely done. The older, bearded fellow in front of us needed to explain nearly the entire plot to his woman friend. Either she's an idiot or he needs some spot in the "I'm so smart" light. The people across the aisle whispered through the entire movie. Psst, psst, psst, psst. What's that all about? WE CAN HEAR YOU. Someone in the back of us only spoke to each other now and again. Things like, "Oh my," "Did you see that?" "Wow," "That was nice." Good movie by the way. Michael Clayton. I highly recommend. 13 comments from 9 users

I go to screenings on the lot where I work when I can, and there's usually few people and they're respectful. When I first started here they showed "From Here To Eternity" in one of the theaters, it was so awesome! Recently they showed "West Side Story" in 70mm!!! It was incredibly beautiful! Every scene was a work of art! I wasn't able to go in and sit down, I was only able to watch a few minutes here and there from the port in the projection booth, and if I could have stood there and watched the whole movie out that little window with the projectors whirring behind me I would have done it, what a wonderful movie!!!! posted by

Madkow, you have some kind of fear of Movie theaters? What the hell??? Ok, now you have to tell your story about movie theaters. lol. oops, unless it's something really serious that you'd prefer not to talk about. I didn't think about that!!! Anyway, Lori, yes, it irritates the crap out of me when we sit near a group or couple that just won't shut up. Good thing about Big dog....He doesn't take any crap when it comes to that. He has no problem, he will tell them straight out "if you want to talk why don't you leave." We usually rent. posted by

Olivia: I'm slow and frequently out to lunch. Are you and bigdog a "couple?" I told someone once .... just once, and was very polite, "Please don't talk during the movie." You would have thought I had said something nasty about his mother. I got such a load dumped on me, I walked out and brought back the little kid with the title of manager. The talker then took his anger out on the poor kid. I got tickets comped and went back another time and only had to deal with your normal talker - not the sociopath talker. Honestly .... this is such a mystery to me. I mean, big messages before the movie, Turn your cell phone off and don't talk during the movie. Reminds me: one time someones cell phone went off and nearly the entire audience gave a big "BOOOOO." I was so happy. We love the movies and do a lot of renting too. Especially the "B" releases. We actually used to drive into LA to see the movies that appeared to be one of the big hits of the year. We like a good sound system. We finally decided that is just silly so we have gone into the Hitching Post 3 or 4 times now. Talking happens in LA too, but it seems to be worse in Tehachapi, even tho the audience is much smaller. posted by

I have no problem telling some one to shut their pie hole during a movie. I took my 11 year old to the movies awhile back and there was these 2 kids running up and down the aisle. Both kids were about 10 years old with no parents. I watch these kids run wild and make all kinds of noise for about five minutes and the movie was about to start and I couldn't take it no more. I'm 300+ 6 foot tall with a long goat tee. I stood up and pointed at two seats in the back row and told them to sit their butts down and told them if they make a sound during the movie I would get them thrown out. They both sat right down and behaved them self. A few mothers gave me the thumb sign. I have seen parents bring their young children to bloody scary movies only to have to hear the kid cry and then having to listen to mom and dad tell the kid its only a movie and its not real......blah......blah.....Any way I perfer to rent. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed and I sometimes get lost and I just love the rewind button when I didn't hear something or get lost I can go back and watch it over, Something you cant do in the theater. posted by

Younger folks were never taught "proper movie etiquette." They grew up watching videos at home, and their parents got lazy about teaching them the experience of going to the movies. It was a big deal in my house, growing up, to be old enough to attend a movie with the family. My parents never took us to an evening movie if we weren't old enough to sit still through the whole thing. Going to a film was an event, something special. And of course, movies were much bigger in scope back then, too. I can still remember in which theater I saw important movies, who I was with, & what was going on in my life around those times. When I see a movie for the first time on video, I may enjoy it & all but it's not the same type of experience! Today, I only go to see a film if there's something really extraordinary about it. Meaning, we only go once or twice a year. The local Tehachapi theater is a real disappointment, so there's that too. posted by

I can;t remember the last time I went to a movie for exactly the reasons you have all described. The loud talkers, the crying children etc. I'd really like to see Tehachapi have a drive-in movie theater. I see lots of areas that would be available for such a venue and I think it would be a huge success. A drive-in theater is something so many people can enjoy. Whether it;s cuddling up next to your spouse or piling all the kids in the back of the car and having a fun night out. At a drive in you rarely have to be concerned with the annoyances of regular movie theaters and they provide a unique experience that can't be beat. posted by

They have stadium seating at the movies down here. I dont usually have a problem with that. But the only time i will spend the money to go is if is some horror flick. Sat we are going to see Saw4. The shock and scare effect isnt quite as sharp when you are watching it on a TV screen. Now i wish i would have gone to see Transformers in the theater. (Bumblebee is hot...i know hes a machine, but..) Most other movies i wait until they are on DVD. I too have no problem shutting idiots up. That mouth of mine is really one of my defects. Gotta love my quick wit and sharp tongue :) Lori Morales...where the hell have you been????????? you are just now getting that the Dippintushes are a couple HELLO?

I KNOW .... didn't even occur to me that fellow bloggers were also fellow cuddlers! It's nice. My daughter belongs to The Scary Movie Club. Every Friday the girls go off to some terror. Dad saves the good ones from TV and they watch it on our big screen. Husband/dad has theater speakers and the sound is better than some theaters. During these father/daughter bondings, I come in and write to you all. posted by
