I think having the speakers downtown awful...I don't know how much it cost but I would sure like to know, the money could have been used to put in sidewalks on some downtown streets that don't have any or something like that.

Why don't I like them? I think it's an invasion. They might be great for the parades but 2 or 3 parades a year don't justify permanent speakers. Tehachapi has been doing parades for decades without these speakers and do do lots of other places.

I was sitting down by the police station on a Sunday afternoon talking with a friend after a belly dance show and I found myself having to talk over the music coming from the speakers. No less, the music was like Neil Diamond or something. Then there has been times I've heard love songs playing. People have emotional attachments to some music and I think it is just wrong to impose this music on someone when they choose to stroll downtown.

I've also been in my car with the windows rolled down at Curry and F St. and had to either turn up my own radio or just turn it down because nothing can be understood with two "radios" playing. It almost reminds me of the cars that go "boom" "boom" at stop lights and everyone has to listen to it. It's noise pollution.

Earlier this year a woman in Vermont was removed from a plane for not covering up while breastfeeding. In July, a woman in Kentucky left an Applebee's restauraunt because she didn't have a blanket to cover up. These are just two examples of what women are faced with while breastfeeding their babies. Many more women surrender to the appeals of the public and don't speak up for their nursing babies.

I am a breastfeeding mother and am saddened that public breastfeeding is so uncomfortable for women and babies. Our culture is unknowingly pushing more woman to use formula by attacking women for breastfeeding. I know that women aren't just whipping it out and exposing themselves to everyone...(though a very small percentage might) the majority of breastfeeding woman have dignity and self-respect, they are married or have a monogamous partner and do not wish to show anything off. We are simply feeding our babies what we know (and everyone else) to be the best nutrition a baby can get.

As far as covering up, a mother can and should if that is what she prefers. But, if the mother or the baby prefers to nurse uncovered than that is what she should do. The world does not revolve around the offended...babies were born to breastfeed, if someone doesn't agree than maybe they should cover their eyes instead of asking a mother to cover her babies head.

As a result of this incidence at Applebee's in Kentucky there is a nurse in being organized to be held in Bakersfield.

How do you feel about these  incidences of mothers being asked to leave or told to feed a particular way and what do you think about the women in Tehachapi attending this nurse in?

Hello friends,

I'm new to Tehachapi and have been surfing the web to get news and info about this place and the things there are to do around here. So far I've been able to get quite a bit of info between the internet and people I've met. It seems Tehachapi is growing quickly....how exciting to have joined the community in the midst of all the hustle and bustle.

I never would have thought this town would have such a cool online community, I registered over at wherestehachapi.com also, same user name...I entered the top 5 contest there, if you aren't going to enter will you please vote for me.

Well, I'm anxious to be part of this community and will be at mamahillybean ???? sp? on sunday night for some music. I guess it's the first time they are opening...heard about it at the farmer's market. If there is anything else fun to do around here please don't keep it a secret and let me know. Thanks in advance and thanks for the welcoming atmosphere.
