DMV
I just have to vent a bit I went to our local Tehachapi DMV today to pick up the License/ID form for my teenage daughter to fill out and the only ones they had were in 'Bleepin' SPANISH!! I mean seriously come on Tehachapi DMV get it together !....Have enough English supplies. We are still the majority of the population at least here in this little town and I want it to stay that way.

That's state law, not the choice of local DMV offices...

...now hopefully this doesn't turn into a gd illegal immigration arguement...

That is what we get for allowing the left to take over CA

Law or not isn't it a law to provide all forms an publications in the native language too? Which is .......ENGLISH!!  I am sure they just ran out that day, but that's ludicrous that the people in-charge don't do their job and keep the correct supplies available until closing time. Just because it gets late in the day is no excuse not to keep the lobby stocked properly with all forms and publications.

Okay, they messed up--I agree. Is the desired recourse to chastise them or help them, through polite discourse, do it better? I see no reason to flame them. However, I do suggest a very constructive comment be made to them that you were frustrated there were insufficient supplies in English (comments to the blog certainly make us aware, but to what beneficial purpose?). I would always think about exactly what I am trying to accomplish and how to constructively get it done without inflammatory comments. I'd for sure contact the supervisor and have a polite discussion--that would certainly help everyone, and you would be respected for it. Hope this suggestion is helpful.

WOW...a DMV in TEHACHAPI?  Count yourself lucky because when I lived there we had to go to Arvin or Bakersfield.  In fact, both my kids got their licenses in Arvin.

...yea, too bad it's only open like once a week...

Actually twice a week....

And it's now federal law that you must prove your immigration status to get a drivers license. It's just not enforced here in Peoples Republic of California.

I fully agree with you luvmykatz. English is the most spoken language in the USA; for now anyways.  At work I provide both English and Spanish forms. I always keep everything stocked. Pretty soon you will need to be bilingual to get a job; especially in the Healthcare field.

Not like being bilingual is a bad thing...

Bilingual is not a bad thing, but it should not become a requirement.

Which part of Bilingual should not be a requirement...English or Spanish?

hmmmm.... Lets see Jim,

Where do you live; United States or Mexico?

If I spoke Russian and English I would be bilingual; right Jim? but would that help me here in California? Not as I see it! So Spanish is your answer..................not required!  It should be REQUIRED that you speak English in the USA to obtain a drivers license and a job.
