What happened to the bike path?
I was at a City Council meeting last year wherein Phil Smith announced that the city had received a grant in excess of $500,000 to build a bike path that would basically run along the south side of Valley Blvd. from Curry to about where Sonic is. I never read about it in the paper and stopped going to City Council meetings after a senseless tongue-lashing from an ill-informed Councilwoman Hand and general frustration with the lackadaisical participation and overall lack of common sense by council members as a whole.

Anyhow, has anyone heard about this bike path or plans for it? I believe grants generally have a time limit in which to use them and wonder if this is another free community enhancement that will fall by the wayside due to lack of follow-through by city leaders?

A bike path is a great idea, anywhere communities can place them. And I'm in agreement on the sidewalk issue. If the street is good enough for cars and businesses, then in the 21st century it's good enough for sidewalks.

I don't know about the bike path, but I really wish there were at least sidewalks down Valley.  I would be able to walk to the grocery store, but as it is Valley is impassable with a stroller.  And I can't go across Cherry because there aren't any sidewalks there either.  The cars go pretty fast down Valley and I never walk along it because I don't feel safe.  I wish it had sidewalks all the way to Woodford-Tehachapi Road.

On the positive side, the new improvements to Curry south of Valley are very nice.  Hopefully the improvements will continue for the area!
