We did quite well, thank you.  The Community came through again!

We are truly blessed by a lot of good people here.  I love to brag to my friends and relatives that live somewhere else about how Tehachapi as a whole is such a great and caring place to live.

That's fantastic Sharon, a dog park is truly needed here.  Yes, Susie rocks!!!   I met her last week and thanked her for all she does, not only for dogs, but for cats as well.   Tehachapi is good to their animal population for the most part and it's good to see programs like the Tehachapi Humane Society putting the effort into giving the animals that aren't so lucky that live here a chance for a better life.

I hear that PetCO doesn't sell dogs/cats and that they won't deal with breeders anymore.  People are beginning to understand that there is a problem and the fact that Kern County killed over 18,000 of the 24,000 plus dogs and cats that they acquired last year is a sign that it's not getting better here either.  The killing of animals gets worse every year..  well I suppose you already know that.   Sad huh?

This being said ...if you take a dog or a cat to a shelter the chance of him/her making it out alive is only about 25% (1 out of 4 pets make it out of a shelter alive).   Anyway, I hope you did well at the bake sale.  I know it's for a good cause, and many thanks to the volunteers who helped.

Thanks for the donation!  It will be well spent.  I tend to buy all kinds of goodies at these deals and then stuff my face all day.  One good thing is I can recommend to the people what's good and then what's REALLY good.  Never had anything bad yet.

The Firemen must have given up early.  They were on the other side of the breezeway from us and were taking donations and had a TV or something they would be giving away.  They set up about an hour after we did and were still there when I left.

We hope to have an information table at Canine Creek's Birthday Bash on April 5th.  We'll have some people to man the table and answer questions.  We hope to have our Teen Program person there so she can possibly recruit some teens out there that like animals and want to help.  It sounds like it will be fun.  Susie does so much for the animals, I don't know where she gets the energy.

I just sent out a notice to our membership for her telling of the The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District holding it's regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, the 18th starting at 5:30pm.  They are going to review and approve fencing for the Meadowbrook Dog Park Project.  I didn't even know they were working on such a project.  I'm sorry to say I didn't get the location of where the meetings are held, but I'm sure if you are interested you can contact Canine Creek they'll be able to give out this information.  She said the public may attend the meetings...she hopeful people will attend to show support for this facility. She said that Canine Creek has been urging the TVRPD to build a fenced dog park for Tehachapi for over three years. They're hopeful to see it completed in time for summer. If you or anyone wants more information on the development of the dog park project, visit: http://www.caninecreek.com/dog_park.htm

I know from THS' standpoint this is good and good for the community too.  I receive many e-mails from people planning on moving to this area asking about Tehachapi and it's involvement with animals, and one of the first questions they ask is if we have a dog park.  When this facility is completed, I'll be able to say YES!

Right now, a few of THS members are attending training for the Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) with the idea that we'll be working on setting up an evacuation plan for animals in our area in the event of a major emergency situation.  I'm enjoying the classes.

Take care and again thanks for your support.

I didn't get any baked goods, however, I did drop off a 20 at the THS table..   I didn't see the Sand Canyon Volunteer Fire Dept or I would have gave them a little cash as well.    I didn't see them????.

We always take whatever people are willing to give.  If you plan on going, better hurry as I just left and things are going fast.  I believe they planned on staying until about 2:00 p.m.

Kmart was kind enough to let us setup just inside the breezeway area as it was snowing when I got there this morning.

Sparks you might be interested -- The Sand Canyon Volunteer Fire Dept. is there too.
