Hopefully we'll be joining your town by December
Hello everyone, my name is Shyleen. I am 20 my fiance is 21 and we have a 3 yr old little boy. We currently live in Bakersfield but hope to be moved to Tehachapi by this coming December. We have an aunt that lives there and its like every time we go to visit her we never want to leave . Tehachapi just seems like such an awsome place to raise a family. Bakersfield has really worn us down with the gangs, traffic, drugs and just the over crowding in itself. I also have an anxiety about driving so I've never gotten a license here and I really think I can drive without being scared in Tehachapi. My fiance works in the oil fields here in Bakersfield so he will have to commute everyday. I'm a little worried about that. It seems it could be a bit dangerous having to drive up and down that hill everyday. We would really like to start meeting people and making new friends as soon a possible. We're very down to earth friendly caring people. We enjoy BBQs hanging out laughing with friends, movies and all sorts of things. We are young but we typically have older friends becasue we're way more into our family life than partying ( which we don't do at all). We would also really enjoy meeting other couples with children our sons age, he's 3, so he can have some new friends too. Sorry if I seems to be rambling, I just wanted to introduce our family. Well after my honey got home from work he told me he talked to someone else in the company and they said they could help him get tranfered it just wouldn't be as soon as December. I really hope it happens.

Ya I'll stick around, no reason not to. Everyone pray and if you don't do that please keep you fingers crossed that something will happend and we'll be able to move up there. I know it's where we belong. I don't want to raise my son in Bakersfield. posted by

Wow all of you are so friendly. Well since posting I had got some very dissapointing news. Nabors (the company my fiance works for) won't transfer him to a rig here in town. Right now he drives anout 45 minutes to his rig and back. He already works about 11 hrs a day then add on the 45 minutes to and from his rig, he couldn't possible add on the 45 minutes to and from Tehachapi. He wouldn't get any sleep. I'm so sad I could cry, we really have our hearts set on Tehachapi. I was hoping to move in the in-town area

If you are anxious about driving, be sure you don't move to Stallion, Bear Valley, as the 202 "Freeway" can be scary, especially around shift change times at the prison. I've never seen so many drivers cross the center line as I have here. Good luck.

Welcome! My husband and I moved here last December. We left Lancaster for the very same reasons. And when we knew we were expecting a baby, I thought, "That's it. We can't stay here any more." We LOVE living here! I hope you like it too :)
