I really want to go and get my hair done but I don;t know where to go. I am looking for a color/cut and style preferably somewhere I can get service without having to make an appoinment and wait.

Does anyone have any suggestions of hair salons either in Tehachapi or Bako that will provide great service?

Thanks!

A few months back my husband and I saw a black bear, not nearly as large, around the same area on the side of the road that had been hit by a car/truck. Has anyone else had any bear sightings?

Looking for my real sister she was adopted out when i was a little boy. Her name is Tammy Louise Taylor she was adopted by a Ben & Joyce Taylor that lived in bakersfield at the time of her adoption that was in the early 70's. I've heard she might be in the tehachapi area now. She should be about 38 anybody knows of her could you email me and let me know. Thanks Perry

I am relatively new to tehachapi and haven't found a doctor or dentist yet for me or my husband.

I remember seeing a blog awhile ago with the same subject but haven't been able to find it again.

If you have a good doctor/dentist or can recommend where to go (or not to go) I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks!

I think all of us have at one time or another witnessed an episode in someone elses life in which things didn't go quite as they had planned. We've all seen someone drive off with a coffee cup on top of their car etc.  From television to you tube, our stupidest moments are being caught and shared with the world.

They say laughter is the best medicine. Here is, so far, my stupidest moment

I was having a rough night once when I was living in a high rise in Toronto. I was stressed out and doing too many things at once. I decided to do the dishes. A few minutes later I was cleaning the bathroom and decided to have a shower. After a long, hot shower, I got out and heard running water! I thought I'd have a heart attack! I began throwing down sheets/blankets on the inch or so of water covering my floors and then saw how much water was also in the hallway. I prayed it wouldn't seep into the electrical system or some such horrible expensive fate, luckily, it didn't.

What is the stupidest/silliest thing you can admit you have actually done?

I HATE needles. The very thought of it makes my stomach turn and makes me light headed. I'll cry and pass out, usually in that order. I can see children laughing, playing, gettiing thier needles like a champ - but it doesn't at all diminsh the severity of my fear of needles.

I think it is all psychological from this strange coincidence:

When I was about 6 my black lab was hit by a snowplow on Christmas day. My father passed out. My mother was on the phone desperately looking for a vet. Long story short, they left and came home without my dog. They explained this to me by saying 'They gave her a needle and put her to sleep'.

A few months later my mum was very ill in the hospital. I was visiting with her when the nurse came in and said okay you have to go now. I didn't want to leave. I asked the nurse why and she replied 'We're going to give your mummy a needle so she can sleep" Imagine my suprise!! I was certain they had killed my mother until the next visit I had.

Do you have any odd/strange irrational fears?

Kindness is considered to be one of the Knightly virtues, and is a recognized value in many cultures and religions. In the dictionary it is described as "kindnessthe quality of being warmhearted and considerate and humane and sympathetic"

Treat everyone with politeness, even those who are rude to you - not because they are nice, but because you are.  ~Author Unknown

Kindness is not just action. Action on its own can come from many different motivations, and none of them compassionate. There’s a BIG difference between people giving to make themselves look good or out of obligation, and giving because you have compassion for those who need what you give.

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.  If you want to be happy, practice compassion.  ~Dalai Lama

Kindness is something you can be taught but genuine kindness stems from the heart, the soul. Whether it be opening a door, paying for someones order in a drive-thru, a simple smile and some friendly conversation, a simple gesture of kindness can warm even the coldest heart.

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles.  It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.  ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

It saddens me when I try to remember the last time I saw someone display a random genuine act of kindness towards a stranger. Fear tends to cast shadows over contact with strangers. The media makes money by promoting fear, fear sells. It is time that we started listening to our own instincts and stopped listening to factors that are only concerned with profiting off of our insecurities. Your instinct is a very sharp tool. Trust in your instinct and you are not likely to be wrong.

It is time that we started to bring back the community spirit in our society, in this little town of Tehachapi. It is time to open your heart and your eyes to the things/people around you. Take a moment out of our day to do something positive for someone in the community whether it be a family member, a stranger, a neighbour. The impact of your kindness can be astonishing, amazing and breathtaking.

You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have you witnessed an act of kindness or been the recipient of such an act? Were you able to find a way to brighten someone Else's day? If so share it, not to receive credit for being 'such a good person' but to show others examples of simple ways to share compassion and kindness with the people around you.
