Star Trek, to boldly go....
Huffingtonpost written by T. Thompson To boldly go where no man has gone before in California. "It feels glorious," said Takei, who played Sulu on "Star Trek," holding his marriage license. "I am the happiest guy in the world," Altman said. "I get to be married to George Takei." Dressed in suits and ties, the couple plan to be married in September at the Japanese-American Museum in downtown Los Angeles, forgoing what is to be a day of weddings at West Hollywood Park underneath a collection of white tents. "Now it has meaning," Takei explained to reporters. "We are going to be legitimately married in California." Altman couldn't resist a sound byte: "I am extremely optimistic that George and my marriage will live on and prosper far beyond November." They were all smiles and obviously joyous. But they weren't jumping for joy. They were well-prepared for the media glare, ready to become celebrity spokesmen for gay unions, at least for today. Every time Takei talked, I was reminded of Sulu, signaling, in a calm and collected, non-emotive voice, some kind of danger to Captain Kirk. In that same tone, Takei took note of the protesters, one dressed like a devil, saying that "they need to equally respect the diversity in California." "If they want respect, they have to be respectful, and they are being disrespectful," he said, although acknowledging they still had a right to be there. "They cannot put their personal religious beliefs on us and write it into law." "There is nothing extraordinary," Takei said. "We are just like John and Mary. I had the opportunity to meet George Takei once and he was pretty nice, I got his autograph too, so, here's to celebrities who treat their fans nice when they see them, posted by

Starbucks, oh really, right on. I heard he was a nice guy. Are you a trekky? My brother is, he used to drive me insane with trekky talk. I'm glad Takei will finally be happy and have the same rights and eveyone else. Oh, hey are you going to the blog meeting on July 2nd? I think it will be fun. I will be at Mama Hilly Beans at 5:pm, hope to see ya there. posted by

You'd never know it watching Star Trek, but George Takei hated William Shatner, still does from what I heard 'Captain Kirk' say in an interview a couple of weeks ago... posted by

I've heard about the bad feelings between Shatner & other members of the cast, but DAMN he's still the best as Denny Crane in Boston Legal. If you've ever seen the movie Galaxy Quest, you see Tim Allen doing a fair impersonation of Shatner/Kirk. And all the cast of that movie hate his guts, too. Funny stuff!

I saw George Takei on TV a few nights ago saying He gets along fine with Shatner, neither man is one to hold grudges 40 years, and he said Shatner was on the guest list for his wedding too, so, its all water under the bridge. posted by

Peaceful I think, the divorce statistics will be the same for gays as straights...relationships are relationships. I believe there has already been about 50 divorces in Massachusetts. I have been divorce once myself...I probably won't marry again, my present boyfriend and I get along soooo well without a license that I doubt we will get united legally anytime soon. Yep, I heard nobody gets along with Shatner, but like Starbucks says Takei is a pretty nice guy, I don't think he is the type to hold a grudge for long. posted by

lol PeacefulMan... Somehow I can understand that... I think men get along better with other men. Whenever I had a job that involved a bunch of women. I too would think "Oh NO, look at all the women. I get along much better with a group of men myself. But hey, don't tell anyone I said that OK?
