Joty, i do agree about some parts of Mexico but some parts in America I have seen people begging for money, homeless sleeping in gutters,  hungry abused children, run down Ghettos that I was scared to travel in and very corrupt governments so the problem is here also.  We are just real good as Americans at ignoring our poor and shining a light on the celebrity and the rich.   

There are many parts of Mexico that are really nice with good people and great economy's.  Most immigrants south of the border are from places like Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Belize, and yes Mexico too but its not just Mexicans. 

As far as the drugs go they really are not a problem to the scale that they are here in the U.S. I'm speaking in terms of the Mexican citizens using them.  Drugs are all over Mexico but in transit to the good old U.S. drug addicts.  If our people here would have desire to change combined with social and political programs the demand would drop off and the areas of the world that make money with the drug supply would also dry up.  Once again your blaming another country for a problem that this country and other developed drug addicted countries demand.  

Anyone who speaks out against the melting pot background of this country is speaking out against the original intent of the U.S. Constitution and brotherhood formed by many nations coming together to live as ONE.  As for not learning Spanish you are ignoring the inevitable and turning a blind eye to the fact that your children will benefit by bilingual skills.  Many jobs now pay incentives to bilingual persons. 

I'm looking for people to look past bias and the mind clouded with misconceptions.   Feelings of another group taking something away from yourselves is an ideal based on me and mine and that translates into selfishness.  I'm looking for the Human race starting here in Tehachapi to realize that we are one human family with the basic wants and needs that are all the same.  We need to rise above and be grateful that those people come all this way with great hardship and prejudice simply to work, work that benefits the whole more than the negative people try to paint on them.  The Government COULD make a workers program that would encourage immigrant assimilation and restore dignity to those who come here seeking a dream. 

 Anyone who makes money for a living look at your paycheck and at tax time take all that in and realize that YOUR government is the one ripping you off.   We are taxed like socialist with no social benefit for the middle class and up.

Gube you are too funny.  Your anger is only hurting you.  Holding on to your anger is like holding a hot coal to throw at me, although you might hit me your hand is the only thing burning.   

An educated Mexican, your right my sister and I both have Masters degrees and no one gave us anything but desire to get them.  You speak about "them taking" what specifically was taken from you? what was that cost you?  You see this is where you and I differ you say "there is nothing more irritating than and educated Mexican"  I say there is nothing more irritating than an ignorant person of any race.  Especially one that  displays ignorance for the entire community to see, picture and all. 

Thank you Level 4 for pointing out this guys past.  This indicates to me that his arguments are based more on prejudice rather than truly caring for his country.  If he is a county employee he should be fired for such derogatory remarks.

This is one of those blogs that took on a life of its own.   This blog is about illegal immigrants.  Not just Mexicans. Illegal immigrants means just that "illegal".  Without illegal immigrants, yeah, we are looking at our produce going up like crazy.   Us "white" folks aren't going to go into the fields and pick anything.  I know my mother has told me stories of coming home with her fingers bleeding from picking cotton.  That was a generation who knew you had to actually work for a living.  We have turned into a very lazy society.  We have taken what suppose to be our "rights" and turned them into an "individual, narcissistic"  value.

When I walk into any government establishment and see forms in multiple languages, I wonder, how much is that costing the country?  Everyone here should learn English before they get here.  It shouldn't be up to our school system to teach English to those who haven't learned it yet.  Again, how much is that costing us as a Country.  Noble as it may seem, it's a burden on our country.  Why should a person who is bilingual be considered for a job before someone who only speaks English?  Two of my daughters took French in high school.  I asked them.....Are you crazy???  This country has become one of which if you don't know Spanish, you are going to have a problem working any job that deals with the public. 

There are several of you out there who have a problem with the welfare system and health care.  How can a person go into a welfare department, provide no SSN and start receiving aide of any kind?  Do you realize how much free health care is being given out?  It's no wonder hospitals are closing their doors.  We have illegal immigrants working in our fields.  We should be having our welfare recipients working there.  But that would be considered unfair treatment.  I don't understand how "our rights" have been taken to a whole new, unbelievable level.  If every illegal immigrant was deported, we would have plenty of jobs.  They may not be the jobs us poor, lazy white people want, but if given the choice of your family going hungry or working in a field somewhere, I bet a lot of our poor, lazy white people change their minds about what is important.  In most cases "illegal" means just that.  It doesn't seem to pertain to immigrants.     

Sorry xcite, but the level of squalor in the third world countries doesn't come close to the ghettos/barrios here. And there's no health care. No one has said our country/government is perfect, but it must be close, hence all the ILLEGALS. Tony Blair got it right.

Yes, I do blame other countries for the rampant drug problem here. We may have the addicts, but these other countries are the suppliers, and their governments are getting rich rich rich. I also think our government could do more in the "war on drugs".

And I take umbrage with the fact you call yourself a Mexican when you were born here in the U.S. That makes you an AMERICAN. There's nothing wrong in being proud of your heritage, but how can we all unite as you keep calling for, if everyone insists on calling themselves something other than American?

i agree that we should amend the 14th amendment to state that all babies born to US citizens are citizens and not every baby born here no matter the parents' status.  we should be enforcing our labor laws against the employers who hire illegal immigrants.  if we need farm labor then we need the guest worker program we had in the 60's.  i'm all for throwing people off the welfare rolls to work the fields if necessary.  if you can work you should work and if you don't work you don't eat.  as for the drug problem, if we didn't have the demand we would need the supply.  parents you are responsible here.

as for gube, he was crazy when he worked at the prison.  couldn't get along with the inmates, most of them hispanic.  he put the CO's lives in danger with his attitude of hatred, he snitched on CO's so he would be liked by the captains, and he was so psycho that he got his azz fired.  i hope the county fire department did a psych eval on you gube before they hired you?  what are you going to do?  not put out a fire if the house belongs to a mexican?  or are you going to shoot them as they come running out of a burning structure?

Joty I never called myself a Mexican Gube did I was responding to his ignorant comment, look at my posts,  I have always called my self an American when people distinguish me an American Mexican before Mexican American I think Mexican American is offensive.  Every race should be American we certainly do not call others English American or Irish Americans why should it be that way for Americans of color.  Level 4 can you email me Gubes name so I can forward all his statements to his command staff.  He cannot, like a coward hide behind his monitor and not be held accountable for his statements.  If he feels this is the truth than I'm sure he wouldn't mind his Staff knowing.  

Olivia I agree with your blog too, our country could make a legal immigrant worker system that would both promote assimilation into American culture by being legal would restore human dignity to hard working peoples.  Our Government realizes the economic value gained by exploiting illegals and will not change.  Believe me if the illegal work force cost more than the gain the government would have been all over it a long time ago.  Fact is illegal work forces make lots of money for lots of people in power people who contribute to our leaders.   I do not agree with your assumption that since other countries are supplying drugs then we are drug addicts.   This statement goes against the Law of Supply and demand.  Without a demand you need no supply.  Can you blame a Colombian for starving his family to grow coffee or feeding them by growing coca?

I'm not saying at all that we should just open our boarders.  I'm saying the rhetoric like Gubes is harmful, anti American and seeks no solution.   Basically his statements are based on racism and have no real value.  It is very easy to say illegal is illegal but comparing a person who is framing your house, picking your produce, cleaning your hotel room, preparing your meal, and even fighting overseas for your freedom to a rapist or a thief is just down right ignorant.  

God bless America for it let this son of an immigrant thrive.

I think I'm going to have to agree with Olivia here. I swear I'm getting on here less and less because every time I come back it's like junior high all over again with the name calling and pointing of fingers. Some of these issues are very important issues that effect millions everyday. Not everyone is going to agree on how things should be handled. (A lesson that will never be absorbed I'm afraid.)  With that being said I think that many should be quite capable of getting their opinion or point across without taking things to an extreme like.......  Um, I don't know,  shooting people, maybe.

On the other hand, I love it when people who use fake handles call others doing the EXACT same thing cowards. It just baffles me to no end.  Also, the threat of tattling on someone because of their views is so childish. Their thinking may not be acceptable to many, but (sadly) at the end of the day they are entitled to their opinions same as you.

Anyway I'll get off my soapbox. I just miss being able to have a decent discussion on here, but now it seems like that can't happen with out it being taken 'THERE." It's a shame really.........((shakes head.))

All you guys and gals know who Gube is !  I know you know -- just think about the pattern.  If you'll go back to the blogs about a month or two ago, this person used his real name -- but went underground and has remained there ever since.  When Gube used his real name -- he also consistently used the letters:  LOL as an acronym for "lots of laughs".    Just go to the sites involving controversial subject matter and do a "find" search for "LOL".  Now Gube, don't go erasing the blogs, okay?  Give people a chance to connect up "LOL".

Oh foot -- now Gube will move to another name and stop his pattern of using "LOL". 

It's amazing what a little research and attention to "patterns" will do -- or undo.  Oh don't hate the messenger Gube.  I simply do legal research for a living and I'm trained to follow "patterns".    You've got to stay cool Gube, because some persons apparently know you very, very, very well.  Intelligent minds will differ, but come down "off the ceiling" Gube.  You're all over the place.  Chill out will you?  You're "over the top" to such an extent that you completely lost your message and your point.  You make some valid points but you lose it all because your hostility overshadows any message anyone would otherwise hear or read.
