SEX...its in all our minds
Everyone thinks about sex, your parents, your kids, your local fireman, heck even the priest down the way. Its in all our minds and now the government wants to preach abstinence to all those within the age of 12-29, SHEEESH this is during our sexual prime. Cmon..... they say sex promotes disease or unwanted families, but they wont promote alternatives like safe sex or birth control, how lame is that. if your going to tell them to say NO at least give them alternatives, masturbation never hurts anyone when its done in the private place or even Parents talking to your children when its that time.
I don't mind the government putting our hard earned tax money into teaching the down side of sex, but i do mind if they wont offer an alternative, sheeesh this is a natural thing and heck it feels good. In other words, no sex unless you're heterosexual, legally bound by your government, and profess your commitment to a monogamous relationship. The abstinence-only teaching isn't just for young adults anymore; it's also geared towards adults in their reproductive prime. This is what I'm handing over my hard earned money in tax dollars for each year?! Grant it to those they talk about sex at an early age do need the info because most parents no adays are afraid to talk to their children about something that is taboo such as sex (cmon open up)This is a new century sex is everywhere wither we like it or not, don't waste time fighting it take your time and inform about it. I do believe in premarital sex, how else are u to tell if this is the one :P cmon would u marry someone if they stuck it in the wrong hole or blinded you or even clogged your ear holes?? I had my share of premarital sex an i was responsible about it, protection, porn, and the Internet showed me the ways :P and by the time i was married i rocked my wife's world and had 3 beautiful children. Grant it, it will be interesting when my kids are of age to inform them, but i intend to before the Internet does or the know it all kid in the playground that always tell it how it is before the parents do. Anyways sex is a great thing, and i wont preach to give it up but i will preach the consequences and alternatives. so when my child does goto the playground she will be inform and pass a better word along than the one getting info from TV or Internet. And i know most religions say its not rite till your married or u should save yourself for the rite one, but isn't it true that sex is natural and should be expressed when ever u can (you know what i mean perverts) sighhhhh 12 comments from 5 users

Back in the day when it was a sin and illegal by the government to have sex if you were not married, My father at age 16 joined the military (he lied about his age). He was stationed in Germany, he met my mom they had sex and mom got pregnant. They didn't want to abort the baby (ME) so Dad and mom hid from my mom's parents, had me and then eventual when they both turned 18 they got married. My mom's parents were upset that they did not get to see the birth of me, but even more upset that my Dad took their daughter away from them at such a young age without so much as a word. My mom's parents were worried because they did not see their daughter for a 1.5 years. I imagine it was horrible for them. I think if my mothers parents were to have distracted my mother from having sex at such a young age by good communication instead of telling her it was a sin, illegal and that they would be very angry if she got pregnant, she may have still had sex, maybe, but she would have gone to them for help instead of taking off with my dad. This "If you have sex you are evil and I will be angry" mentality didn't work then and won't work now. This mentality back in the day caused more illegal abortions and many deaths of our pregnant daughters. Without a doubt it caused much heartache and fear for all concerned. We should talk to our children about sex with understanding and encourage them to wait until they get older. God obviously does not see sex as evil since God created Adam and Eve to procreate and knew his sons and daughters, sons and sons and daughters and daughters would all have sex not just to procreate but as a way of showing love and experiencing pleasure. OK some of us have sex for love and because it feels good only.... I know I am not going to quit having sex simply because i can't have children. And I know my 19 year old nephew doesn't have sex to procreate either, he is gay. We don't all have sex simply to procreate. if this were the case after menopause, or after we already had a dozen children or more (OHHH) we would stop having sex. Thus people have sex for many reasons, for pleasure, for a showing of love and in many cases to have children. There are people who don't care for sex at all... these people religion and the government does not even have to worry about... THE POINT IS, involving religion and the government into our sex lives should not happen in my opinion, it didn't work then and it will not work today. OH did you say till the age of 29 years of age??? (laughing my butt off) OH yeah that will work. You can't stop anyone, no matter what their sexual preference or age is from having sex, they will just lie to you. HELLO. This is too funny. You know that proposition won't pass. All voters over 18 will vote against it. Remember , we are a democracy. I do hope parents talk to their children about sex, with acceptance and love. Let them know of the dangers of sex (diseases)and the consequences they may face if they get pregnant at such a young age. Let them know you disapprove, but please let them know you will be there for them if they make this mistake. yasobich I am with you, you have a very open and honest view of how life really is. I think your children and wife are in very good hands. Now about masturbation... I think we should outlaw all lefties and righties, masturbation should be diverse and a equal opportunity action, so as to not tire us all OUT. lolololol posted by

Aero- I pretty much agree with everything you just said here, but do you have any other teen pregnancy statistics other than those of black teens? Sorry, but that just rubbed me the wrong way. I also have to add that I think the increase in teen pregnancy is due to the fact that it takes two incomes* to make ends meet these days. The cost of living is insane! Most of these kids are left to fend for themselves and have no one watching them or paying attention to what they are doing. * I'm not saying it can't be done on one income. My husband and I live off one income so I can be a SAHM, but it is NOT easy. We knew it wasn't going to be though. :) posted by

We have always had kids who are having kids, remember the baby boom in the 50's when most people were married, many teenagers were having children back then as well. People simply did not talk about it back then. Maybe it is about what aero is saying... we are not communicating with our kids, we just yell at them or give them orders and ASSUME they are obeying us.. Well they aren't and obviously never have. My home town is in AZ, Arizona is very religous and conservative state, I KNOW these people try and teach their children good moral values and about abstinece because it is the focus of the News almost daily in AZ, and yet AZ is having the largest problem with teen pregnancy in America. I don't know what the answer is, but going back to the baby boom ways isn't the answer either... Just recently my sister,s good friend who is married to her high school sweetheart had the same problem with their daughter. She is pregnant at 15. Now these people are extremely moral,( they get mad when I say "crap" ) and they both work at home. They also do a volunteer Bible study on wednesday nights, that my neices attend. These are darn good people who communicate well with their children . I am thinking...... remember aero said what an impact the student diversity program had on his daughter....perhaps since some kids are anti adults when they are teenagers we should create a STUDENT program that teaches obstinence in our schools as well, and not just once a flippin year but at least once a month. What do you guys think??? posted by

One third of births 'not planned' A third of pregnancies in Scotland may be unplanned Unplanned pregnancies account for a third of births in Scotland, a study has suggested. Researchers surveyed almost 4,000 women who attended an Edinburgh hospital for pre-birth care, along with a further 907 who were seeking abortions. The study, published in The Lancet, found a third of pregnancies ending in childbirth were not "clearly" intended. One in 10 were totally unintended while a quarter of women were ambivalent about their intention to get pregnant. About 90% of the women who were seeking abortion said their pregnancies were unintended. Emergency contraception was used by 113 women who asked for an abortion and 40 who planned to continue with the pregnancy. Emergency contraception is unlikely to make a substantial difference to pregnancy rates Professor Anna Glasier University of Edinburgh Researchers said the use of emergency contraception was low, even among women with no intention of conceiving, and was unlikely to reduce unintended pregnancy rates. The authors concluded that ways must be found to improve the use of regular contraception. Professor Anna Glasier, from the University of Edinburgh, led the research. She said: "Understanding of sexual behaviour and patterns of contraceptive use is crucial for development of interventions to reduce unintended pregnancy. "This survey needs to be repeated in other settings and, if the findings are similar elsewhere, a strategy will need to be developed to improve contraceptive use. "We need to find ways to raise awareness of the real risks of pregnancy associated with lack of use of contraception or with incorrect or inconsistent use. Emergency contraception is unlikely to make a substantial difference to pregnancy rates." Crazy but i know its worst in Africa posted by

Yaso, What a coincidence!!! My sister asked me to talk to my 14 year old niece today because she has a crush on a boy. I emphasized all the negative reasons why she should not have sex until she is older. I spent over an hour answering her questions and explaining the pain it causes all people concerned when a child gets pregnant. I also told her if she finds herself going against what I and her mother's believe is best for her, there are alternatives... birth control, safe sex etc. It is extremely obvious to me that even the best kids do not always listen to their parents. I want to make sure she is safe and happy. I also asked her to tell me if she was in trouble in anyway, that I will be here to help her. I hope we have taught her well enough to make the right decisions. If she does make a mistake at least she will know how to protect herself. I am so glad your blog reminded me to inform her about safe sex and birth control.... Thanks Yaso, you're the man!!! P.S. the average age of a teenager that gets pregnant in AZ where she lives is 15, which she will be in a couple months,,, UGH posted by

The only thing I can add to this is my own experience. Talk to your kids early. I was trying to wait for the right age with my son. So I thought I would talk to him at about the same age my dad talked to me because it was well timed. The things my dad talked to me about were things I wondered about but didn't already know and was afraid to ask. Well, a generation later and that same age was too late for my son. He had already heard it all out on the play ground. I still gave him "the talk" just to be sure he had it all correct...and he did. So if I had it to do over again I would have done it a year or to earlier. These facts should come from a parent, not another kid at school.

Wow! Well at least you know now what NOT to do. What a horrible way to learn about sex and even worse about your period. You must have been terrified! It can go either way. I'm not sure kids really listen to their parents about this. When the moment arrives they go with how they feel at that moment.
