It's Fun!!!!!!
Just thought I would tell you about the fun time my daughter (age 12) and I have had.  We signed up for Wilton's cake decorating class at Micheal's in Bakersfield and just finished Course One.  Me, who is artistically challenged, actually turned out a few decent looking cakes.  My daughter's cakes came out even better and she got the hang of making beautiful roses.  This week we start Course Two.  The cost was reasonable at $18.00 for 4 classes--about $4.50 per class.   Classes are held once a week for 2 hrs. and there is a total of 4 Courses. It gets you out of the house, you meet a few new people, learn something new and can impress your friend with your new skills.

Anyone else taken a fun or interesting class that we could do after the cake decorating series?

Mom  that is awesome.  My son wanted to get into cheerleading but the whole "it's for girls only thing" discouraged him.  And I don't blame him.  He is at that age where differences are starting to really matter.  I did tell him that in college there are a lot of male cheerleaders and you get to hold the girls.  He said he would think about it in college.  So he then said how about gymnastics, I said ok.  Poor kid, he was the only boy in the class.  He was ok with it but he didn't want to go on the the next level.  Is there many boys in your class or just girls?  He took a cooking class in his after school program and loved it.  Where I am at now they don't offer after school programs so I need to check other options.  We do have a Micheals though.  Let me know, thanks

So far just girls/women...but have him watch Ace of Cakes on Food Network or look up www.charmedcitycakes.com and read about Duff.  He is a guy who uses power tools to carve and make cakes...and his cakes start at $500 each.  I think it would be great to have a few boys/men in our class.
