Why Haven't They Been Arrested and Jailed For Arson?

http://www.tehachapinews.co... 700, 620 )">

Here is an article that is on the Tehachapi News Website:

Mojave and Tehachapi were created in 1876 when the Southern Pacific arrived. Recently the historic Tehachapi railroad depot was destroyed by a fire caused by two people playing with illegal fireworks on June 13th.
On Sunday, June 29, Mike Massee, president of the Mojave Transportation Museum, presented a $500 check to Friends of the Depot president Doug Pickard, and board member Carol Westover.
In  return, Pickard handed Massee a telephone from the old Mojave railroad depot. The phone will be displayed in the Mojave Transportation Museum when it is built.
To help the Friends of the Tehachapi Depot rebuild the depot, send donations to them at P.O. Box 2044, Tehachapi CA 93581-2044.

Ok folks, its been ONE MONTH and no one has been jailed for burning down the Train Depot.  You and I would be in Kern County Jail for arson right now for doing this--yet not these"two people playing with illegal fireworks" (aka grown men in their 30's).  Now, they are asking for donations to rebuild the Depot.  And how much are the 2 men that were "playing" with fireworks going to have to pay?  How about $500-$1000 a month for the rest of their life!  They can get a 2nd job to pay off what they are responsible for doing.

Other people were arrested for fireworks--read the Tehachapi News. But not these men.  What gives?

Who knows Awsmom? Notice it's like the whole thing as just been dropped of the face of the planet. No, updates or anything on the investigation for the last two weeks. I'm really irritated about the whole thing, but I found it very interesting that Lori said that on the 4th of July she talked to the "Friends of the Depot" and they denied everything about the two previous fires that had happened at the depot. I'm sorry, but the more this goes on the more I find myself thinking.................COVER-UP. Maybe the city needed the insurance money from the depot to pay off some of the $500,000 that's unaccounted for. Again.....who knows!

Cover-up..............you are right countygirl this stinks.........I talked to the waitress at Kelcey's and she told be all about the two fires......I don't think that she would make up the story............One thing for sure and that is no matter what happens the real story on this fire will be tainted.

the guys haven't been arrested because the cops don't have a case.

Like I said before, that depot didn't have many windows.  The odds that a bottle rocket flew in there is just about zero - which is MUCH less than the chance that some workers left a bunch of oil-soaked rags around - just like they did before.  If Kelcy's stayed open 24 hours, we'd probably still have a depot...since that's where the responsible people work.

PD- Are you aware that the KCFD did an investigation? Do you know what their findings were?

Nope.  I get all my news from the Tehachapi News.  What do you know?

Sure makes you wonder when the following fireworks incident had suspects charged and in jail within a few hours:

On Monday July 7, at 1:30 PM, Tehachapi Police Department officers were called to a Tehachapi residence regarding a felony assault investigation. The parents of a 13 year old developmentally disabled boy had discovered that their son had been assaulted by two teens at West Park on July 6th.
The investigation revealed that at about 5:30 PM on July 6th, a 17 year old male and a 16 year old male had pushed the 13 year old to the ground and then placed a lit “Piccolo Pete” firecracker into the rear pocket of his jeans. The 13 year old was unable to get the firecracker out of his pocket before it burned through the jeans, causing second degree burns to the victim. An unknown bystander did offer the victim a water bottle to try and stop the burning. The victim was later treated at Tehachapi Hospital.
Based upon the descriptions and first names of the suspects, officers located and arrested one of the teens at West Park at about 4:30 PM. The second suspect was located and arrested at his home about one hour later.
Both suspects, Tehachapi residents, were booked into Kern County Juvenile Hall on charges of 12309 PC - Use of a Destructive Device Causing Bodily Injury, 245 PC - Felony Assault, and 12608 H&S - Unsafe Use of Fireworks.

Well, thanks for the link, however the statements of that report appear to be contradicted by the lack of any charges.

The report doesn't add anything to my understanding of the event, and doesn't make me less inclined to think that the reason for the lack of charges is because there isn't a case.

And kudos to TPD for the swift apprehension of the bullies at West Park!

If they had enough evidence to get a conviction there would be charges by now. It seems to me that they don't have enough substantial information to file charges that would stick. Along with a lack of evidence it also seems that whoever is responsible is directly linked to the city somehow,  I can think of no other reason they'd keep their names out of the headlines for so long. Very suspicious indeed,

Sad how they sweep it under the rug like everyone in the town will 'forget' about it.

The story about the kids in the park disgusted me. What is wrong with people? Gube were these your boys? I'm kidding of course I know these boys are older than yours.

Ok, so they don't have enough evidence. Have these guys been charged with the use of illegal fireworks? We know that is a given. If they don't have enough evidence now chances are they never will so where is the statement saying they were unable to connect them directly to the fire but Mr. Doe and  Mr. Anonymous have been charged with illegal use of fireworks or what ever it would be......... fined. Something! Maybe the paper is afraid to do so because they've pretty much already printed that the guys were guilty of arson.

Answer clear, ......Total loss fire leaves little evidence as to cause.

Overzealous PD wants to look good so overstate evidence. (Probably only have the fact that these two bozos admitting to shooting off fireworks in the area, then later that night the fire started, with no other real evidence)

News hungry media jump on exaggerated police "look good" comments and report speculation as fact.

These two guys will most likely never be charged as there is no actual proof and if the PD can actually squeeze out a scapegoat arrest the charges will eventually be dismissed.
