What happened to anonymous
Has the news finally did away with the choice to post anonymous. I hope that they did. I just noticed that the post anonymous section was gone.    Next I hope they take away the ability to delete a comment.

I have to agree with countygirl 100%.  That was my opposition to the anonymous posts-to differentiate between bloggers.  There were many cases where a anon had to say that wasn't me and stopped blogging.  I myself had used anonymous once when I had posted a  very personal story.  I was protecting other people as well as myself.  I didn't want people to connect the dots with the other people in my story.  There just needs to be a better system.  I don't know what it is but Shane has a valid point as well.

By the way what's the difference between blogging as anonymous  or "Doggone" and having a photo of a dog. Is that not anonymous?

Shane, you are right there is not much difference between the two but at least if people are blogging with a handle (private or not) it is easier to differentiate between bloggers and there is SOME accountability.

Why do you need to see and count other people's posts Jim? That's right, END DELETION, END THE ABILITY TO DELETE OTHER PEOPLE'S COMMENTS ON ONE'S OWN BLOG, it should be up to the handlers of this site to decide whether or not the comment is inappropriate and violates the site's rules.

I had to delete one of my comments when I realized that I had replied to a comment on what was the first of three pages of comments.  When I went to the last page, my comment was totally irrelevant, so I had to delete it.  It's handy for mistakes like that.

I think people don't get that you'll always be able to "delete" your own comments if you wanted. It doesn't matter if they get rid of the delete button or not.

That's an idea to think about Jim.  The blog discussions read as a thread, and when someone deletes or edits a previous comment it can make the following comments confusing and it disrupts the flow.  And I agree, people should THINK before they hit the Enter button!  And if they said something they wish they hadn't, they can always post an apology.

I hope they didn't take it off. I know sometimes "Anonomyous" was just someone being a smatra**, but other times it seemed as if someone had something to say, but because of (maybe) their job they didn't want to use their name.  That's just my opinion.

Mr. Anonymous was a little out of control at times.  I think that some of these guys are basically using their blogs and anonymous as shock value.  Trying to get a rise out of people.

C'mon, you have to admit, sometimes its easy to do  ; )

Congrats, TN. It's about time you listened to the majority of us and did away with the "anonymous" ability. Now, we will have either people with their real names (like me) or at least a handle so we can see and count their posts.

Next, please eliminate the ability for Deletion. People will just have to learn to THINK before they post. If they later think better of what they said...it should just be too bad for them. That's like a lawyer deliberately saying something inflammatory in front of a jury and the judge admonishing the jury to "strike that remark from the record and the jury is to ignore it."

It's called a "Legal Ploy".

Way to go, editor! Thanks!

Hallelujah!  It looks like it is real!  Editor, the reason it took this long for us to notice is that most of us don't post anonymously so we're never looking for the anonymous button!

The change was made yesterday in the late afternoon. But given that you all are so observant we expected a blog on it when we got to work this morning.

While I noticed it and am grateful for the change, I was reluctant to mention it lest it proved too good to be true and I would have to recant any expression of gratitude.

How long has this been in effect? I just responded to an anonymous blogger yesterday.
