WHY ARE THE TEHACHAPI POLICE TERRORIZING OUR TOWN?
Location:
206 EAST TEHACHAPI BLVD,
TEHACHAPI , CA 93561
OUR GOOD FRIEND BERT BOCKOVER COLLAPSED FROM CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO AT HIS HOME HERE IN TEHACHAPI. DUE TO THE RAPID RESPONSE OF OUR LOCAL AMBULANCE, HE WAS TAKEN TO TEHACHAPI HOSPITAL WHERE HE RECEIVED GOOD CARE. LATER HE WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE HEART HOSPITAL IN BAKERSFIELD AND THEN MOVED TO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE HAD A QUADRUPLE BYPASS. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A COMMUNITY COMING TOGETHER AND WORKING TO HELP ONE OF IT'S OWN. SOMETHING WE DO HERE IN TEHACHAPI. BERT RETURNED TO TOWN TO RECOVER. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THE POLICE BOXED IN AND SWARMED BERT'S CAR WITH GUNS DRAWN, TERRORIZING BERT AND HIS SISTER AND BROTHER IN LAW IN THE DRIVEWAY OF WALGREENS WHERE THEY WERE PICKING UP MEDICATION. BERT TOLD ME ONE OFFICER WAS SHAKING & SCREAMING AT HIM. HE WAS TREATED LIKE A VIOLENT CRIMINAL . HE ISN'T. HE IS OUR FRIEND. I CAN NOT IMAGINE WHAT PROTOCAL CALLS FOR THIS KIND POLICE BEHAVIOR. BERT DID NOTHING WRONG. WHY WAS HE TREATED TO SUCH HARSH TACTICS?? SOME OF US WOULD LIKE AN EXPLANATION FROM THE POLICE DEPT. AS TO WHY THEY FEEL IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO TREAT US THIS WAY. THIS IS A COMMUNITY NOT A PLAY GROUND FOR COWBOY COPS. I HAVE HEARD ABOUT OTHER INCIDENTS OF HARRASMENT TOWARDS OTHER INNOCENT MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY. HOW ARE OTHER PEOPLE FEELING ABOUT THIS??? Joty - UpBull was accusing others of "hiding" behind a pen-name. (you see, he was accusing others of hiding behind pen-names even as he was using a pen-name himself....oh, never mind.....) posted by

Upbull - In response to your statement: Someone also stated that the TPD conviction rate is “Dismal.” How would you know? You go to court all the time to find out. Show your facts; don’t just type your hate. I wrote that. I am a local attorney who is in court regularly and has spoken to several other local attorneys about the heavy-handedness of the TPD. I would love for Chief Kermode and the Tehachapi News to investigate the conviction rate of the TPD and interview local district attorneys and criminal defense attorneys about how to remedy this problem. Perhaps such an investigation would lead to training and more clear guidelines for the TPD. posted by

Objection!!!!, MrsMcQ's above statement is hearsay! "I am a local attorney who is in court regularly and has spoken to several other local attorneys about the heavy-handedness of the TPD." I would like to see some real numbers on this! Numbers from a real source, not from word of mouth, not from a 1/2 baked news story. I want to see how it compares to KCSO and BPD. Hey BO isn't nice to be able to go in and talk with the Chief? I bet you would not be able to get in to see Donny Youngblood if this was a KCSO issue!

Here is a link to our Police Chief's official response. http://www.tehachapinews.co... "On the other hand, the TPD will not officially respond to rumors and gossip. While we are certainly aware of “letters to the editor” and may occasionally review the various blogs, it is not our general practice to respond to what may be anonymous or second or third hand perceptions of an incident via the Internet. Often, these types of communications do not provide a factual account of what actually took place. If we become aware of an issue we believe is of general public concern, we may prepare an article such as this to try and clear up any misperceptions.

MrsMcQ's statement isn't hearsay...she may be what she claims to be - or not - and the statement may be true, or untrue, but she is not reporting what someone else said - which is what hearsay (Hear something, Say something - Hearsay - get it?) is. She claims to be reporting her own observations. But if you would like numbers from a "real source", who do you think keeps track of those statistics? (other than lawyers, of course) Why not schedule a visit with Chief Kermode yourself and express your objections personally? I'm sure he'll give you the numbers.... posted by

ProgreeoDasani I was not accusing anyone of hiding behind a pen-name unless you call posted by anonnymous a pen-name and if it is great. MrsMcQ thank you for the clarification. have you thought of contacting the TPD ? . I am sure that with your knowledge you could help the TPD in getting a better conviction rate. This could only help the TPD and the city of Tehachapi better it image

It was a joke! Soupwater! Hearsay is not allowed in court. Shes an attorney! We all know they don't lie! Get it??? We all know how you like to keep things real on here. I was told you like to hang out at the VFW and get drunk. Just because I repeat that on here or that it comes from a reliable 2nd hand source does not make it true does it? Same goes for this story. As for talking with the Chief, I have many times!!

If you were told I like to hang out at the VFW and enjoy getting drunk, it is hearsay. If you claim to have seen me at the VFW enjoying getting drunk, it is not hearsay. Might be true or false either way! posted by

Hi Everybody, I posted a post from Bert a few days ago… Did it get taken down? I don’t see it. Where did it go? Anyway, one of the officers came over and apologized to him about the incident, which he appreciated. I met with Chief Kermode today and discussed the incident that led to my blog posting concerning Bert's experience. He explained to me the details behind the stop. There were some circumstances that explain why it happened and at the same time I think we also both agreed that it should of/could of been handled differently. He also expressed a desire to move forward in a positive direction. This is what I like to hear and want to be part of. The Chief told me that there has been policy review somewhat in part to the incident and the blog and that they may be changes in protocol. This was great news to me. I extended, on behalf of Mama Hillybeans, an invitation for some kind of meet and greet affair, which I think will happen soon. You are all invited as well and I will let you know when it happens. We spoke about the Police getting to know the Community better This a good way to help facilitate that. He mentioned that the Dept has done some outreach with local service clubs. I mentioned that some Tehachapi folk who may look a little "different" frequent Mama Hillybeans on occasion and it would be a good opportunity know them, Bert included. Incidentally, the Chief contacted me not visa versa. He sent me a letter at the address I provided on my Tehachapi News profile. He mentioned that he appreciated my being accountable. How I seemed to be one of the few… I told him I expect people to be accountable and he agreed. Pretty cool. A lot of energy has been expended on this blog in various forms, some more constructive than others, but all part of this process. I see our Country changing for the better and it all has to do with working with each other more and fighting less. I know some of you see things very differently than that and I respect your opinion too. I think progress is a good concept. Not everybody does. My original blog expressed upset over an error. I used some strong language to frame the debate and I wanted to see progress. I believe we have achieved that. Latest news from the Left Coast… Bo Hammond |
