Calling all Cooks!
I have been wanting to learn how to cook and I'm wondering if there's anyone here in Tehachapi that would be willing to hold a cooking class? Anyone else interested in learning?

Was it just Me or was there a jolt this morning?  The windows rattled and the

bed jolted.  Can anyone tell me what that was?

I'm a singer and would like to join a singing group.  The Summit Singers is the only group that I know of in Tehachapi.  Does anyone know about the group or any
other group who practices locally?

I have an eating disorder, and I need help.  I've been to weight watchers, nutri system, taken prescribed weight loss pills, and fat burners.
I attended therapy with a psychologist every week for over a year, and attended nutritional classes to learn how to eat healthy.  I like to exercise and  stay active
but I'm still dangerously over weight.  Most recently I've attended seminars for the gastric bypass surgery.  This procedure is life threatening, and quite frankly it is probably the most extreme decision a person can make in desperation.
The only thing that I haven't tried is joining a group where people who have issues like mine can sit down and talk .
I am certified as a peer/mentor counselor and would like to start a group where
people can come and talk together.  It would be free and completely confidential.
If you or you know of anyone that would benefit from this kind of group, please contact me and we will put something together.  Bunee.

Republican or Democrat...Conservative or Liberal. Who will you vote for, and how
will a new presidency change the USA?  These questions keep circulating around in my head.  If I had a way to see into the future, I don't think I would look.
I'm not a democrat, and I'm not a Republican either.  I don't know
what I am but I think I'm registered as an "independent".  (whatever that means.)
We have several presidential candidates this time around and I have every intention of doing my homework before the election.
What does a Republican President mean for our country?  Do the troops Stay in the Middle East to establish a democracy while our democracy goes in the toilet?
What does a Democratic President do while stepping into a war?
Does he send the troops home and Up  security on the U.S.?
I remember the day that the Twin Towers were bombed, I don't think anyone can
ever forget that day.  I was very scared, and I was sitting on the  West Coast!
I saw the terror on the peoples faces as I watched my T.V.
From that moment I realized how stupid I had been to think that we are safe and protected with the help of our government.   It's disturbing to think that anybody can
walk over the boarders into our country and continue to murder, steal, mooch,
and slap us in the face every chance they get.  Our government is ultimately responsible for this; So... who do we vote for?

I've always wanted to run my own business, but different places have different needs.
What kind of services or activities does Tehachapi really need?
We don't have a beauty supply, but we have 100 hair salons...!
If there's a beauty supply around here I wish someone would tell me about it.

Everybody's getting exited about having a Del Taco, and I'm wondering why
it's such a big deal?  I guess because everyone is sick of the other
fast food places around here.

I know we have a dry cleaner, and a laundry mat that launders clothes over by Henry's, but does anyone know what they charge? I think it can be quite expensive$
I would be interested in opening a small laundry business myself.
I think we should also have a place where families can go to play pool, video games ,bowling etc....which could also be a large facility for parties and wedding receptions.
I know there's an old bowling ally that's now closed up on Tehachapi Blvd.
I wonder why no one has tried to get it up and running again?

How about a seasonal drive- in movie theater ?  I don't see drive- in theaters
anymore, what happened?

I think that if we had more activities that are family oriented, and services that help people lessen their work load, citizens of Tehachapi will spend less time and money traveling out of town.

We have been renting for almost two years (since we moved to Tehachapi) and we'd like to buy a house.  We have another year before we'll be ready to purchase
a home, but we'd like to find a "rent to own" or lease/option as we're wanting to get into a home soon.  My husband and I have secure employment, and have no debt with the exception of one student loan.  Here's what we need:  3 bedrooms 2 baths,
1400SF or a little bigger.  $250k would be the maximum purchase price for us.
We would like to live in Town or the Golden Hills area.  Please let me know if anyone has information that might be useful.

Definition of -Normal:
conforming to the standard or the common type; usual; not abnormal; regular; natural.

2. serving to establish a standard.
3.
Psychology. a. approximately average in any psychological trait, as intelligence, personality, or emotional adjustment.
b. free from any mental disorder; sane.

I have the definition here and I still don't know what normal is.  As a matter of fact, I don't think normal exists.
Who can you think of who is sane, emotionally adjusted, or  doesn't have a mental disorder?  Every body's taking medication for something, and 9 times out of 10 it's for some kind of mental disorder!
There's another statistic (I'm unsure of the source) shows that 1 out of 100 people have serious sociopathic behavior.  How disturbing is this?

I have to admit that I would not consider myself "normal".
I'm going to throw it out there....No Body is normal.
I like to think of people as:  different degrees of crazy...
C'mon people, how many Normal people do you know?  Include yourself
when thinking this over.

I was listening to the radio this morning when the two DJ's began saying, "Merry
Christmas" to the listeners.  People started calling in complaining that they were offended after hearing the phrase, "Merry Christmas".  The two people that claimed
to be offended also claimed to be "Christian".
I thought to myself, " what kind of Christian would call up and make a big deal about
wishing everyone a Merry Christmas?"
We live in America...  We have the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion....So, if I want to say "Merry Christmas", that is my right.
I believe that Christmas is  the celebration of Christ's birth and that is what I like
to focus on during the holiday season.
I don't take offense to "Happy Hanukkah", or Kwanzaa....or ...?
So, what's offensive about "Merry Christmas?"

It all started a few years ago while having a family party at our house.
It  didn't take long for me to realize that my brother and sister in law had brought
their own large garbage bag to collect all the recyclable items thrown frivolously
into the the trash can.  They had tried to shame us into recycling a few visits
before.  These are the people who clip coupons, throw $200.00 worth of groceries
in their cart and end up paying $5 .00for all of it!  They scrimp and they save, and they do very well.
After some thought, I decided it was time to start recycling our plastic and aluminum cans.
Well,  my 9 year old daughter realized that every couple of
weeks we would $cash in at the recycling center.
She decided she wanted to buy a hamster.  She worked for the neighbors, cleaned the house, and recycled her own cans to earn enough to buy a cage,
food and of course $8.00 for  the little critter.
While at the recycling center, I asked the "recycling guy" how the whole process
works.  He collects about a ton of recyclables and compacts them into giant
cubes.  When he accumulates several tons, someone comes to pick up the cubes.(I assume this is when he gets paid)
Anyway, I asked the recycle man, "where do the materials go, and how does the U.S. reuse them?"
He promptly told me that 90% of these materials go to China!  HUH?
India takes about 5%, and we get ?
Let me get this straight.  We send virtually all of our recycled materials to China and other foreign countries so they can use it to make things(like toys) to sell back to us?
Yes, this subject is a whole new Blog.
What do you think?
