Calling all Cooks!
I have been wanting to learn how to cook and I'm wondering if there's anyone here in Tehachapi that would be willing to hold a cooking class? Anyone else interested in learning?

Nursing Program for Tehachapi

I know that there are a few medical courses such as medical terminology and a certified nurses assistant class offered in Tehachapi and Mojave.  I'm currently on the "waiting list" for one of them.

I wasn't planning on building a career as a nurses assistant, and would like to go onto an LVN program.

To get straight to my point, I'm looking at one to two years full time school and training for a nursing license. It's approximately $20,000 to attend vocational nursing school) No time for a day job.I will be commuting to Lancaster or Bakersfield....more gas money.$

So, I'm wondering....hoping that Tehachapi can offer a nursing program right here in our town.

Then, when the City decides to stop dragging their feet on the development of our new hospital, we'll have local residents who will be trained to work there.

It seems somewhat 'backward" that Wal Mart gets the "OKAY."to move in, but a new Hospital for our community gets shot down. I'm guessing that whoever makes the most "Revenue" gets pushed to the top of the list, huh?

I guess that subject is for another time.

Bunee you might want to check to see how many hospitals hire LVN's before you invest $20,000 in a program.  Most LVN's work in nursing homes and hospitals usually don't hire LVN's anymore. The prison here may hire them though.

Also check out the website allnurses.com for more info on nursing schools.  There is even a section for students!

Thank you awsmom, I was thinking about that same thing.  I know the prison hires vocational nurses and psychiactric Techs...

Most of the LVN students I've talked to are quick to say that they'll continue school until they obtain their RN license.

Thanks for the info, I will definitely check out the website.   J.

As for training in the Tehachapi area goes, it will be a while before you can see that.

As for the hospital verses the Wal-mart coming in. The difference is money and politics. Wal-mart has money and knows big and small town politics. The hospital is ran by small town politics that fight more than plan and work with each other. Another difference i that Wal-mart only has to deal with the city whereas the hospital must first work with the city, then county, and final the state.
