calvintehachapi - > CITY COUNCIL FIASCO -> HART VS BECKHAM...AND THE WHOLE WORLD!
HART VS BECKHAM...AND THE WHOLE WORLD!

Councilman Beckham was very wise and reserved in not engaging Holly Hart in what could have been a heated "he said, she said" argument during her lengthy and public personal attack on Mr. Bekham. Why? Because he remembered the old admonishion that:

"Don't ever argue with an idiot.... They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

We just got the cd of the council meeting.  I think your'e right, it's he said/she said.  There are those who unfortunately make things up to have something to complain about.  I've seen it where I work. We get complaints all the time.  Most are probably valid complaints, but I've seen/heard complaints that I know to be pure fabrication.  They start legitimate but things have been added to make it a really serious complaint.

How can you go to a public forum and say that you heard from a couple of people that they got phone calls and blah, blah, blah.  How much of that blah, was real and how much grew.  And did the phone calls even exist.  That's what I'm wondering.

I think he handled the situation very well.

So whats going to happen the 8th? Is Mrs Hand's friends going to come and take over this meeting? Will they rail road a city hall in a shopping center for Mrs. Hand? Mrs Hand can't legally speak to this topic due to her stores location. So it is up to Mrs. Hands friends to make her point for her. Smith is in the same boat as Hand. So it will come down to Grimes, Vernon and Beckham. Grimes will vote the way Caudle tells him. Vernon sits on the fence and waits for Grimes to tell her what to do. So that's 2 votes to 1. So it looks like we will be shopping and doing city stuff at the same time. I hope the new city hall will have a drive threw, that way I can pay my water bill and get a bag of fires.

Thinking about the location of the new city hall,  how many just plain citizens HAVE to visit city hall on a regular basis?  If it's to pay water bills, the city offers the option of automatic debit from a checking account.    I think they still send an envelope (I don't remember, I have automatic debit)     so-------the cost of a stamp is 41 cents which means you may  have to go to the post office (Capital Hills) to get stamps--but then many people are already going to the PO (again Capital Hills) regularly to get their mail from their box- or mail a pkg.   Come to think of it, doesn't City Hall have to pick up their mail at the PO?    Is the shopping center location being pushed to have a convenient hangout for the good ol' boys?  We have coffee shops for that.

The developers or others who must visit City Hall for licenses are usually wanting to make money (aren't we all?) so if it's a bit inconvenient for them, i'm sorry.  Except for city business licenses, which can be renewed by mail, most of these people won't become residents.

I hope the next meeting will be as it should be- not the circus the last one was- but if it is, memories definately will last until elections.   Please don't overlook my points when reading my sarcasm.

I don't know law but is there anything going on that may warrent Grand Jury investigation?

The location of the proposed new Civic Center will affect ALL residents of the greater Tehachapi area for generations to come, whether you live directly in the city limits or not.

In my opinion, Capitol Hills represents the NEW city expansion and it doesn't need to be crammed into the downtown area.

South Curry street is already a mini-freeway and kids have a tough time even trying to cross the street to walk to schools. This is a residential area and the increased traffic, noise, lights, pollution and yes, CRIME...will be hazardous to our health!

Grand Jury? Certainly something to think about because something is very wrong with this city's officials and Hand and her ilk seem to be much a part of it, don't they? I wonder what Holly Hart will say this time? Don't forget to get your audio Cd's from city hall so you can memorialize this one.

This last one, to save any confusion, was a Copy and Paste from Calvin.

We got our CD and yes, it was a fiasco.  Capital Hills would be a great location.  The post office is out there. The new hospital will be out there.  Like someone said, it's more convenient for the "good ol boys" I guess.

With the busing system the way it is in this town, there are more parent's taking their kids to school and kids walking.  Leave that area alone.

I think Hand and Caudle and Hart did a great job of planting this article and video in the Bakersfield Californian. The paper accepted it "Hook, Line amd Sinker" without any other additonal citizen comments. Good job guys, it's the usual, and you never disappoint us, do you?

Wow, are they talking about Tehachapi, CA

They don't want walled off subdivisions... Isn't that what's along Highline?

They don't want the housing tracts to look like Anywhere USA... Isn't that what's along Highline?

I swear, it seems like they're talking about a whole different town.  Comical, but sad.

This was originally posted on Sunday, Sept 30 without the video.

I guess after the Monday night fiasco, someone needed to edit it a bit.    Wonder if the Bakersfifeld paper will have a reporter at the next meeting?   Or maybe one of the TV crew-  now that would be a video to see on TV

Maybe the grand jury would be a welcome sight. Their purpose:

The Grand Jury's purpose is to serve and assist the people of Kern County. The Kern County Grand Jury is a body of 19 citizens, independent of any political or special interest group, that objectively investigates all aspects of county government, special districts and cities to ensure that these bodies are being effectively governed and that public monies are being judiciously handled.
