A Plea for Help

Following is a message from a family in Santa Clarita.  If you can help find a home for this dog, please contact the owners, Stacey and Ben, at the email listed at the bottom of the post.  Thank you.  Susie Atherton,  Canine Creek

Hello everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this. We are looking for a home that doesn't have small children or small dogs for my male Shepard mix. On Wednesday night, he attacked my male min pin, by grabbing him by the neck, shaking him three times and throwing him across the room. (think of a coyote attack!) I immediately rushed him to the vet, where I was told that he would be ok. His leather collar saved his life. His bites to the neck missed his jugular vein by less than 1cm. He would have bled out if it hit his vein. The collar kept the teeth from going in deeper. The attack was unprovoked, it wasn't over food or anything else. We are keeping them separated from each other. He has tried to attack him again.

My husband and I have three small children ages 15mths, 3, and 6 years old. My husband has said that he fears for the safety of our children, since his behavior has been unpredictable for awhile. Our vet agreed with us that a new home would be best. We would love to find him a new home. I refuse to take him to a shelter. He is a great watch dog, is house and crate trained. He does get along with other dogs, just not small dogs anymore. We live in Santa Clarita, California, if you know of anyone who lives in CA and would be willing to give him a home please email me. It breaks my heart to have to do this, but the safety of my family has to come first. If anyone can help us find him a home please email me at traskpack@sbcglobal.net.  Thanks, Stacey
