Yes he is Nuetered..He was 'fixed' when I got him from animal control in Bakersfield. And yes he does go for walks daily two to three times a day depending on the weather.

One of the very first questions The Dog Whisperer (and Victoria on Animal Planet, "It's Me or My Dog" series) ALWAYS asks:  How often do you take your dog for a walk.  Please, no slings and arrows coming my way; I am only the messenger and I repeat, have NO ROOM TO TALK regarding this particular subject.  I have a HUGE backyard, with a 6 foot fence all the way around, and my two dogs are free to frolic whenever they choose (they stay inside whenever they want, especially at night).  I am sure someone with much better knowledge will come to the rescue and give you some good, positive advice; good luck.   It appears you have done everything humanly possible to keep "Skippy" in your/his yard; do I dare ask is he neutered (that might help, if he's not).

This dog of mine I swear is suicidal or just plain lacking brains!! We have a deck from the back door. Well it is pretty high up from the ground. He actually climbs up the side of the deck wall gets on top and jumps off ( a good 8 feet maybe more) and takes off. Then he finds any and all spots in the fence where he can escape from to go see the neighbor's dog. We tried to make the deck wall taller but he still was able to climb over it and jump to freedom. The reason he stays on the deck is because he escapes from the yard and also because the neighbor's dog comes into our yard and gets aggressive. We did purchase an electrical fence system online but the dog found that and chewed the wires to the main box ( my husband did not hide it well enough).. I am just at my witt's end with this dog!!! Any help would be appreciated...

Currently I have a 25ft chain attached to a metal post that has been cemented into the ground where I chain him up to. He even got out of that a few times. He spends less than an hour out there each time and he seems to enjoy the little freedom he has, except when he jumps the fence and cannot get back over...

Oh dear!  Please call Shellie at my shop and see if our obedience classes are full yet (they start next month).  822-0307  If we can't get you in, I'm sure we can find you help.  I think Hemme and the Pet Lodge might have classes running as well.  What's the nature of your problem?  I've been a guide dog puppy raiser for 8 years, so I've been through a lot.  Maybe I can give you some tips on what to try...

I am a very patient and understanding person ( Sometimes a little too much according to others). I have a 1 year old dog that I rescued from the animal shelter in Bakersfield that I have run out of patience with.. Are there any dog obidience classes here in Tehachapi? I need to do something with this dog before he ends up back at the animal shelter.
