STOP Update: Adoptions & Tag-a-Thon
Thanks to all who came into Canine Creek and the Tehachapi Pet Lodge last week to purchase an ID tag for their pets during the discounted Tag-a-Thon event. A total of 81 tags were sold, so that's 81 pets that will get home quickly if they are ever lost. And, from these tag sales, a $81 donation was also made to STOP, Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets. You might also like to know that the STOP adoption event this past Saturday was very successful, with EIGHT adorable dogs and puppies finding new forever homes. Congratulations to all the new pet parents! 3 comments from 2 users

That's fantastic! Is there any way you guys could have a Chip-a-thon? I've got a kitten that needs one, and a cat that needs the info updated on hers. I'd love to do it when it benefits STOP. posted by

That's a very good idea. The regular microchip price at our monthly shot/nail/chip clinic is $45 per pet, which includes a lifetime registration. I'm not sure there is any room for discounting, but I'll look into it and pass on your fundraising suggestion to the STOP board members. I'd love to see more Tehachapi residents invest in lifetime microchips for their animals. If they did, I wouldn't have to spend so much time blogging all those lost/found pets! posted by

Yeah, even though my kitties are forever indoor kitties, I want them to be safe IF they ever get out. The best I can do is try to keep them afraid of making Mommy mad by going near the door when it's open, and microchip them. And they don't do collars, or I'd be all over the tag thing. The pic of little Fox there is the 20 minutes I tried the day he got home. I learned with Dana that if they don't want it on, you'll just be fishing the collar out from under the couch when you get home from work, lol.
