caninecreek - > Animal Welfare in Tehachapi -> Power Outtage Downtown?
Power Outtage Downtown?

The power has been off at Canine Creek for at least two hours this morning.  I was wondering how widespread the problem is.  Anyone else downtown without electricity right now?  Apprently the utility company doesn't know what the problem is.

I live off valley right by the fire station and our power was out from about 9-1030. I took a trip down to KMart around 11 and they had no power either.

Our power went off for about 10 minutes up here in Sand Canyon...don't know if or how it could be related.

Not sure when it started, but I just picked up my son from Mountain Bible church and it is out... Kmart too.

I just came in from outside, & the title looked like " Power Outrage Downtown." Does anyone know what the cause was of the outtage?

That's why I am at home instead of work cause I can't use the phone or PC I was told they wouldn't have it on until around 4pm so I decided to take the rest of the day off.

I work at Good Shepherd on S. Mill, the power was out for a few hours.  I went home to see if the power was on at about 11 or so, so I could work, and it was.  I'm also right off Valley near the fire station.  I guess the power went out after I left for work and they got it up and running again before I got home.

An overhead to underground splice failed over on "D" street.  No big deal... crew changed it quick and got the lights back on a lot faster tha I thought they would...

Funny how many things you CANT do without electricity...

Isn't it funny how much we rely on our electronics without even thinking about it?  Because of the power outtage, our shop cordless phones didn't work.  I called the phone company to see if they could add temporary call forwarding and the tech said, "How about just using a corded phone plugged directly into the jack?".  Ummmm DUH!  I had to dig through my garage sale stuff to find a phone with a cord.  LOL

Susie, that's a very important point you bring up.  I keep an old dial phone around for the same reason.  The phone company has always made it a point to provide power for the phone lines when the regular power goes out.  It's the reason I will never switch to digital phone service at home, because the cable providers that offer digital phone service don't have the same power backup that the good old phone company does!
