2/25/08 - Male Beagle found near Highway 202 and Sierra Vista. Not neutered. If this is your dog, please call Jennifer at 889-7303. Donate Your Old Pet Supplies Please don't throw away pet items or household linens you no longer want... make good use of them. Our local pet rescues and foster homes are in desperate need of supplies, and are happy to accept donations of clean, gently-used dog collars, pet dishes, bedding, dog clothing/sweaters, towels and blankets. As this winter has been quite cold and wet, towels and blankets are the greatest need at this time. If you have items you'd like to donate, please bring them to Canine Creek, sealed in plastic bags or boxes. We will be sure they are sent on to the pet rescues who need them most. In an effort to be more ecologically responsible, Canine Creek also recycles synthetic packing materials such as bubble wrap, styrofoam peanuts and air pillows for re-use when shipping items sold through our website. If you have clean packing materials of this type, and would like to recycle, rather than throwing them away, you may drop them off at our store during business hours. Due to the large volume of incoming shipments we receive, we do not need paper goods or cardboard boxes at this time. Please send them to Benz so they can be recycled. Drop-Off Locations & Schedule Items can be dropped off at our current location (979 Valley Blvd) until Sunday, 2/24/08. Because we are relocating next week, no items can be accepted the week of February 25th. Please note that Canine Creek will be CLOSED Wednesday, 2/27 thru Friday 2/29 during our move. We will reopen at the new location on Saturday March 1st at 538 E. Tehachapi Blvd. Donations are accepted from 10am to 6pm during business hours. Thank you for helping us keep these items out of our landfills, and putting them to good use. Go green, Tehachapi! A gentleman who did animal recue in Texas recently moved to California City and brought 6 of his dogs and a number of cats with him. After buying a home and living there for a few months, he is now being told he can't have this many dogs and is being given 30 days to find homes or they will be taken from him by California City Animal Control. These adorable dogs are Dachshund / Basset Hound mix. This mix is sometimes refer too as "wasset hounds". The three dogs are litter-mates, and are 2 1/2 years old. Following are their descriptions from the current owner: If you can help or know someone who can, please call or e-mail him. If you have a home for any or all of these dogs, call Warner at (760)812-0477, or send him at email warcourt@yahoo.com. "They were raised around horses, cats, dogs, goats, chickens and many childern (we used to run a 4-H and a youth horse riding camp). They are all completely house broken and well socialized. Below I will provide a description of each individual dog. Bullet is our male Wasset. He's neutered and current on shots. He's extremely affectionate and mellow. He loves kids, dogs and cats. He is always following our 2 years old son around the house and yard. Our older son taught Bullet some agility training. He would make a great pet for any type of family; he's happy to be around active kids, or would be just as happy being with a laid-back retired adult. He is completely house trained. He also loves just to lay on the couch or bed and sleep most of the day. He is completely house-broken. Powerbar is a female Wasset. She's current on shots and spayed. She is extremely doscile. She'd be the perfect girl for any family with kids and other animals. She is a sweet soul. She is completely house trained. She always listens and loves to sleep in the sun. Like Bullet, she would be happy with an active family or a laid-back family. She is very adaptable and easy going. Havest is a female Wasset. She's current on shots and spayed. She is extremely doscile. She'd be the perfect girl for any family with kids and other animals. She can be somewhat shy but is extremely sweet. She is completely house trained. Once she gets to know you, she will be your best and most loyal friend. Again, she would be happy with an active family or a laid-back family." 2/19/08 - Female Lab/Pitt Mix, all black with some white on chest and tips of back toes. Natural ears, very sweet, and fine with other dogs. No collar or tags. Found off Curry. If you know who this dog belongs to, please call Heidy at 823-9432. 2/18/08 - Small Female Brindle Mix dog, black and tan. She has a spay scar, and looks to be fairly young. The dog was found on Buena Vista. No collar or tags, but has a Home Again Microchip #4853371218 that was registered with Kern County but not with the new owner. If you know who the dog belongs to, please call Sarah at 822-8602. 2/11/08 - Two male dogs found at the guard shack in Alpine Forest around 2/9/08. The first dog is an intact short-haired blonde dog about 15-20 pounds. The second dog is a larger, neutered male tan Boxer mix with a Great Dane type head. Appear to have been raised together. Call Ed Henson at 363-3283 if you know the owner. These dogs need an immediate foster home, and will need a permanent home if the owner cannot be located. 2/11/08 - Tan/White Pitt Bull lost in Golden Hills off Woodford-Tehachapi Road. Six month old male, recently neutered, and his name is Scraps. Left his collar and e-collar stuck in the fence where he escaped from, so he has no collar on. Scraps is very friendly. If found, please call Danny or Heather at 823-0946 or 912-9132. 2/10/08 - Male Dachshund named Spankie lost on 2/9/08 on Green Street in downtown Tehachapi. Six months old, black with brown belly, wearing a red collar and trailing a red leash. No tag or microchip. If found, please call Verine Casey at 345-7726. Richter is a housetrained and neutered Miniature Pinscher mix with up-to-date shots. He is currently a foster dog through the Tehachapi Humane Society. Richter is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs 10-15 pounds. He has been mistreated and neglected so he is a little shy in the beginning. He gets along with cats and when he warms up is playful and loving. With just a little love and care he will be that great dog you are looking for. Richter's foster Mom is being required by her landlord to get rid of Richter, and he may go to the pound. If you can give Richter a home, please call B.J. ASAP. Her number is 661-824-4987. Saturday, 2/9/08 - A lady just brought a black puppy to Canine Creek -- said she found it wandering the streets near City Park. It is all black with a little white on its chest and the tips of all four feet. Looks to be a Lab mix or perhaps an Australian Shepherd mix. Very young... probably no more than 8 to 10 weeks old. The lady could not keep the puppy so we have taken it into the store. If you know who this dog belongs to, please have them call Canine Creek at 822-0307. If the owner cannot be located immediately, the pup will need a foster family until it can be neutered and adopted out. A two-month old, tri-colored male Chihuahua puppy will need a permanent family to adopt him once he is neutered. Unfortunately, his owner shipped out with the military, and couldn't keep him. The puppy is in the temporary care of the Pet Lodge, and will be adopted out by STOP (Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets) after he is fixed. If you are interested in applying to adopt this cute baby boy, please call Michelle at the Pet Lodge. 822-6731 URGENT: A small, all-black 1/2 Poodle, 1/2 Chihuahua mix named Lola urgently needs a home. The puppy is 5 months old, has her shots, but has not yet been spayed. Unfortunately, Lola is not getting along with another dog in the household, and the dog's family is contending with some personal issues that make it difficult to keep this dog. They will pay to have Lola spayed if someone takes her now. They are ready to take this little dog to the pound very soon, in a day or so. A foster and/or adoptive family is needed ASAP! If you can help, please call Judy at 822-1782. 2/5/08 - White Poodle, male, (possibly a mix?) found on 2/1/08 at Albertson's. No collar, weighs about 10 lbs, has a long tail and is playful. Looks to have been groomed recently. If this is your dog, or you know who it belongs to, please call Terry at 823-0743. 2/5/08 - DEAF Queensland Heeler, male, lost last night in the area behind Canine Creek (Valley & Tucker). The dog is an intact male Blue Queensland Heeler, one year old, with black around one eye. Wearing a multi colored collar. Please call Blair if found. (661) 972-1580. 2/4/08 - American Bob Tail Cat, female in heat, lost in Golden Hills at Mesa and Westwood. Cream colored with bright blue eyes. She has been missing for 4 days. If found, please call Samantha at 661-953-5856 or 661-427-7320. A very nice little dog was found on Red Apple Road today. She looks to be a Jack Russell (possibly a mix) and has recently had puppies. She has a bump on her head, and seems to have trouble with her back legs - may have been hit by a car. The dog had a rusty choke chain, no tags, and is not microchipped. If her owners cannot be located quickly, she will need a foster home. If you know who the dog belongs to, or can foster the dog, please call Jodie at home 823-7583 or cell 661-209-6203. Canine Creek received a call yesterday from a lady named Shannon who has a 16 week old Golden Retriever puppy that was just diagnosed with diabetes. She was given a refund by the breeder but still has the puppy. She has small children (who love the dog) but she cannot afford the medication, nor does she like having needles in the house with babies. We need to find a home with someone who can afford to treat his ongoing medical condition, or locate a breed specific rescue that might take him. If anyone is interested in adopting this special needs puppy, please call Shannon at 661-589-7335. 2/2/08 - Neutered male yellow Labrador found in the desert by a sheriff's deputy. The dog is about 4 yrs old, weighs between 80 and 100lbs, is house trained, well mannered, sits and shakes on command. He is being fostered by Leslie at Canine Canyon Ranch, but will need a permanent home very soon if his family is not found. This dog will be adopted out through STOP (Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets). Please call Leslie at 823-0111 if you are interested in adopting him. The Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets (STOP) charity fundraiser, Petals For Pets, is underway, and doing very well. To date, 26 bare root rose bushes from Susie Hubbard's award-winning rose garden have been sold, raising over $800, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting STOP. Only 41 bushes remain, so don't wait to purchase one for your Valentine sweetie. For more information on this charity fundraiser, please visit Oscar the STOP Spokesdog's website: http://www.oscargoescamping... Roses purchased will be distributed from Noon to 5pm on Saturday, February 16th in front of Radio Shack. Susie Hubbard will be on hand to give advice and information on successful rose growing.
