A male Miniature Pinscher has been picked up off Highline near the KB Homes after being hit by a car.  The dog is in Lancaster with the lady who rescued him.  He is having trouble using his back legs, but his condition seems to be fairly stable at the moment.  If you know who this dog belongs to, please have them call Chelley at 822-3335 as soon as possible.

Thank you to all the generous volunteers and pet-loving visitors who came to the STOP (Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets) pet adoption event at the Tehachapi Pet Lodge on Saturday afternoon.  We're pleased to announce that five large dogs found forever homes!  If you're searching for a new fur friend, please come to the next STOP adoption day at Canine Creek on Saturday, April 5th.  More beautiful, loving dogs will be available.

Don't forget.... Saturday, April 5th is also Canine Creek's 4th annual Birthday Bash pet charity fundraiser.  We will be donating 100% of our bathing proceeds to the Doberman SOS rescue, 100% of nail trimming fees will be donated to STOP, and four local rescues will be in attendance showing off their adoptable fur friends.  There will be a variety of vendors in our parking lot, tons of raffle prizes, and entertainment by country singer Tony Vice.  It's an all day event (10am to 6pm) so bring a dirty dog and come on down to support Tehachapi's pet rescues.  For more info, http://www.caninecreek.com/...

FOUR PAWS UP to K-Mart for their generosity, and willingness to help the local homeless pets.  Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets (STOP) received a donation of approximately 80 pounds of cat food from K-Mart yesterday.  Since STOP only has a few kitties in its foster care system at this time, this food will be provided to the Tehachapi Humane Society to assist with their cat program, as they have a much greater need at this time.  Thanks again, K-Mart, for caring and sharing!

Hi, my name is Maximus.  I’m a male Border Collie/Lab mix with one blue and one brown eye.  I was named after a gladiator so I act all proud and in charge, but I’m really a very sweet guy.

I’m 7 years old, 55 pounds, with short fur, and I’ve had quite a bit of training. I’m housebroken, use a dog door and would probably be best as an only dog or a companion to a more submissive female, as I'm a bit jealous of some other dogs (although I usually do like the girls).  I walk well on a leash and can heel on command, and travel well in the car.  There is a small puppy here at the rescue that I lie next to and cuddle.  Sorry, but I'm just not all that crazy about cats.  I live with several other dogs here at my foster mom’s house, and I need more attention.  I will be neutered soon and I’ve had my shots.  I just want to be with you, lay by your feet and be your friend.  Please, please, oh please.... pick me!

If you have room in your heart for a young gentleman like me, call my foster mom Leslie at 661-823-0111 or email to caninecanyonranch@wildblue.net.

Canine Creek is very excited to announce that country singer/songwriter Tony Vice will be joining our 4th annual pet charity fundraiser and Birthday Bash on Saturday, April 5th.  Tony will be entertaining the crowd from Noon to 5pm, but the event runs all day during normal business hours.... from 10am to 6pm.  We'll have food, vendor booths, pet adoptions, raffle drawings, and much more.   All self serve bathing proceeds collected on April 5th will be donated to the Doberman SOS non-profit rescue, so don't forget to bring a dirty dog and your checkbook!

Thank you, Tony, for donating your time for a good cause.  The "little dawgies" appreciate it.

3/21/08 - We just received a call from a neighbor of a lady who recently passed away.  The lady had two indoor, fixed, declawed cats -- they are now without an owner and need to be adopted as soon as possible.  The cats are believed to be brother/sister, about 9 years old, and are very mellow.  It would be great to find them one home, so they can stay together.  If you are able to adopt either or both cats, call Laura at 822-9160.

Looking to adopt a dog under 30 pounds, that is good with kids, low/no shed, either a poodle or terrier mix for family with allergies. No preference as to sex. Would like a tan or white dog, but will consider any color that fits the above criteria for hypo-allergenic. If you know of a dog that needs a home, please call Rebecca at (661) 333-7821.

I'm pleased to report that last weekend's adoption event at Canine Creek lead to the successful placement of SEVEN dogs fostered through Save Tehachapi's Orphaned Pets (STOP) and the Tehachapi Humane Society.  Wow!

More dogs are coming into the foster network, and they will need homes in the near future.  Four lucky canines were spayed/neutered today, so they will be ready to go for the next STOP adoption day, which will be held on Saturday, March 29th at the Tehachapi Pet Lodge from Noon to 3pm.  Please come and adopt your next furry friend.  For more information on STOP events, visit www.thestoppers.org

The Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District will be holding it's regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 18th starting at 5:30pm.  Item 9G on the agenda is to review and approve fencing for the Meadowbrook Dog Park project.  The public may attend these meetings, so please consider coming to show your support of this much-needed facility.  Canine Creek has been urging the TVRPD to build a fenced dog park for Tehachapi for over three years.  We'd love to see it completed in time for summer.  For more information on the development of the dog park project, visit:  http://www.caninecreek.com/...

Canine Creek is starting to settle into it's new home since our March 1st relocation, and I'm finally coming up for air.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank a number of people and organzations for their assistance:

Megan and Jim Burford of Burford Engineering (our landlord):  Bill and I appreciate the very fast and fair negotiation, lease signing, and everything you've done to make our transition a smooth one.  We are lucky to have found a great location with local landlords who care about our business as much as we do.

Watson Brothers Development (our general contractor):  No doubt about it, we selected the right company to do business with.  Mike Watson's crew turned a vanilla box into a fully operational 3,000 square foot retail store and dog wash in less than 60 days.  Anyone who knows the construction business will tell you that is an extremely short build schedule.  And they stayed on budget to boot!

The City of Tehachapi:  We would not have made our March 1st deadline if it were not for a tremendous amount of help from the City staff, who provided fast and efficient service approving plans, making inspections, processing paperwork, etc.

The Canine Creek Employees:  I can't thank them enough for all their hard work.  Packing, moving, unpacking and merchandising an entire store in 3 days was no easy feat, and they did an exceptional job.

Last, but not least... all the friends, customers and vendors who gave up their free time to help us, and asked nothing in return.  Bill and are truly grateful to each and every one of you, and we look forward to giving back to the community as our business continues to grow.  Thanks, Tehachapi, for your support.

Susie Atherton, Owner - Canine Creek

I can only hope this ABC News report is not true:

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/s...

What kind of person would do such a thing?  Unbelievable and very sad.  I have to wonder how our government will punish this individual.  Slap on the wrist, or make an example out of him and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law?  And, what would that be?  This is a black eye to all Americans, not to mention the US military.  What a disgrace.
