Two llamas and a Dorset ewe sheep, raised as pets, need a new home due to a relocation.  They have all just been groomed, and are friendly.  The lady who owns them is moving out of the area and cannot take them with her.  If you are interested in adopting these animals, or know of someone who can help, please call Sharon on her cell phone at (818) 233-2050.

The power has been off at Canine Creek for at least two hours this morning.  I was wondering how widespread the problem is.  Anyone else downtown without electricity right now?  Apprently the utility company doesn't know what the problem is.

7/16/08 - Male Black Mix Puppy (Bakersfield) with a white chest, and white on his nose, feet and tip of his tail.  He is about 8 months old, found in Bakersfield at Memorial Hospital on 34th Street.  Possible Lab or Pit mix.  Very friendly and well behaved for a puppy. 7/15/08 - Female Black/White Dog, small, found 7/13 in Cummings Valley.  She recently had surgery, so she needs to get back to her owner.  Please call 972-1681 to claim the dog.

7/15/08 - (2) Female Chihuahuas, black with white bibs, different ages, found at Valley Blvd. and Curry.  Call Shellie at 319-8069 if these are your dogs.

If anyone finds a dog, its is really helpful to get a picture of it so I can forward it to all the pet local rescues.  People see things differently, and describe animals in a lot of different ways.  What one person calls "tan", another might call "brown" or "yellow".  Boxers get confused with Pit Bulls.  And anything remotely like a Labrador gets called a Lab Mix.  I have a Great Dane, so anything under 50 pounds is "small" to me.  You might describe small as a 10 pound dog.  So.... please post pictures on your blogs or email them to me at info@caninecreek.com whenever you run across a stray.  It's the absolute best way to match up the lost/found pets list.  Thanks, everyone, for your help.  Susie

There are a number of pet events going on around town today.  FYI in case anyone is interested:

STOP is holding a a pet adoption at the Tehachapi Pet Lodge behind the vet hospital on Woodford-Tehachapi from 10am to 1pm.  Dogs will be there, but I'm not sure about cats.  Call 823-4100 for more information.

The Tehachapi Humane Society will be holding a shot clinic with Dr. Billingsley at the THS office in Golden Hills from 10am to Noon.  They are located at 21600 Golden Star Avenue.  For more info, call 823-0699.

Canine Creek has a shot, nail trimming and microchip clinic from 1:30pm to 3:30pm with Dr. Gantenbein.  We're located at 538 E. Tehachapi Blvd.  For more info, call Canine Creek at 822-0307.  We open at 10am.

7/11/08 - Male Chihuahua, chocolate colored wearing red nylon collar.  If this is your dog, please call Michelle at 823-9071.

7/11/08 - (2) Found Dogs - Female Pit Queensland mix, red, with QH marking, red collar w/cupcake tag, and a neutered Collie mix in a lion cut and wearing a harness. Two dogs have picked up by Kern County Animal Control on Highline at Tucker.  No tags, No Chips. Very Friendly. They have been taken to the Mojave Shelter. Call 824-1030 to claim.

7/9/08 - (2) Black Labradors, 1 male and 1 female.  The female just had puppies 2 weeks ago and needs to be back home ASAP.  The male is wearing a collar.  Neither dog has a microchip.  The dogs were lost around 11 am today in the area of 320 W. 7/8/08 - Female Labrador Retriever, tan, was picked up by a Kern County Deputy today at Westwood and Golden Star.  She is wearing a blue collar but has no tags.  Estimated to be about 10 years old.  Animal Control has been called, but they cannot pick up the dog until tomorrow, so she's being fostered overnight by Sharon from the Tehachapi Humane Society. I'm very sorry for taking up so much space on the blogs the past couple days with all the lost/found pet reports.  We've been inundated with them since the 4th of July -- unfortunately something that happens every year when they are frightened by the holiday chaos and many people are on vacation.  Hopefully this will start to taper off soon.  Thanks for bearing with me while we try to reunite these pets with their owners.  Susie

7/7/08 - Black Pit/Hound Mix found near Valley and Dennison on 7/5/08.  Black body, white and brown on his face, not neutered, no collar.  Short coat, long thin tail with a pit bull body type, but has the coat color/markings like a Bernese Mountain Dog.  If this is your dog, or know who he belongs to, please call Canine Creek at 822-0307.

7/7/08 - Female English Pointer lost on 7/3/08, white and black ticked. Wearing a brown leather collar with a brass tag with three telephone numbers on it, along with the owners name. 7/7/08 - Male Bichon Frise found at the Tehachapi Airport on the evening of July 4th.  He is off-white, is a lap dog, about 3 to 5 years old, his right eye wanders, and appears to have been recently groomed.
