So since I'm already on here and have been blogging for the last couple days I figured I'd ask if anyone knew what was going on with the senior center. I know they put the renovations needed out to bid and were unhappy with the results so they decided to have their own(the cities) people do them. This was quite awhile ago and I haven't heard anything about it.( I admit I haven't been watching the council meetings quite as closely as before though. ) Have they even started these renovations? Did they even get back to them with an estimate? If not why was the ball dropped? Our seniors are a huge part of our community and our town. They deserve a nice place to hang out (especially in the summers) just as much as depots need restoring to be used as office space. Maybe more, ya think?? So does anyone know what's going on with this project? Any info would be great. Thanks! Does anyone have any info on T- Ball sign ups? I want to sign up my son, but I'm not sure where to do it and what I need in order to do so. I remember seeing something saying that the sign ups lasted until the 11th of April, but I don't remember where!! This day in age I feel like you can't watch your children to closely. I am of course speaking as a mother of a 6, 5, and 3 year old and I'm sure eventually I'll have to back off a bit. :) I am still horrified at times by some of the things I see and the choices people make. I think we've touched on this before actually, but I was reminded of my paranoia this weekend. My husband and I went to Chuck E Cheese in Bakes. for my nieces birthday. The place was a mad house with literally hundreds of people there. ( I know where not to go for any of my children's birthdays! lol) Anyway, I was quite disturbed by the amount of small children wandering without any supervision(at least it seemed so). I even had to bring my wandering nephews back to our table a few times. Again, I might be totally paranoid........ I mean there are a lot of people there, they stamp your hands and your kids so they know who belongs to who, etc., but still I couldn't help but feel that this would be a perfect place for some sicko to go unnoticed and was not about to let my kids out of my sight. I even pulled them aside before going in and gave them the "speech". " Do not let mommy and daddy out of your sight....if you don't want to hold our hands you better stay close, and if someone tries to take you SCREAM! " Adding to this.... my heart sinks a little every time I bring my daughter to and from school and I see a very small child walking to school alone. So what is it? Am I paranoid? Will this ever go away? I hope so, but it seems like there will always be something to worry about! :)
So I just got off the phone with the lovely people at Edison. I called them after seeing my bill which (for the second time) had doubled. They told me the reason for this was because I used space heaters. Funny thing is we use space heaters all the time in our kids rooms. This is the first time my bill has doubled (actually tripled from this time last year.) My mother just had to contact them also. Her bill had quadrupled. There was of course a problem and they reimbursed her. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this sudden rise in their electric bill or is it just me?? http://www.snopes.com/photo... Enjoy! Haha!
So there have been a few blogs about the driving habits of many about town, but this is a blog about parking lot etiquette. I don't remember ever learning about the proper way to drive in a parking lot, but it has always seemed common sense worked well enough. Apparently, this doesn't work for everyone. That or they just don't care. Over the last month I have almost been in about 5 accidents in parking lots. Thank God I'm a defensive driver! Maybe it's just me...rules that I've applied just to myself all these years. So I'll ask you what you do? SaveMart parking lot has been the worst for me with this "rule". 1.) So If pulling out onto one of the two main strips through the parking lot do you yield to those coming into the parking lot? I always have. Also for example, If pulling out of the gas station portion of Albertson's do you yield for those driving through to get back on to Tucker.? Three times in the last month I've had to slam on my brakes while someone flies out of an aisle without even braking for me. 2.) If pulling out do you yield for those driving down the aisle? I know this usually depends on if the person has actually pulled out of the parking space, etc., but if someone is already half way pulled out do you stop?? I do. Well I guess the person that nearly slammed into me didn't know this rule. Near accident #4. Then last night took the cake! I was in the Albertson's parking lot. Pulled in through the main strip off of Tucker. Stopped to check for pedestrians before turning left to head to McDonald's. Well while I was doing this a car came flying up behind me and without stopping and passed me on the left. I was livid! If I hadn't of paused I would have been side swiped by this person. They also proceeded to go to MD and parked in the parking lot. I tell you it took everything in me not to get out and chew this person out. I can't say I wasn't surprised when some teeny bopper got out of the car talking on her cell phone. Grr....I'm still irritated. Anyway, I'll end my rant, but I ask you, Do you remember any rules pertaining to parking lots? Do you follow any specific rules when driving in parking lots or am I alone on this? Somehow I don't think I am although I'm beginning to have my doubts.
Yup, I'm just dying to support this company in MY town...........NOT! This is just disgusting. How money hungry can you be?? I guess this is how they manage to give us those competitive prices, huh.........
This is going to be a bit of rant, but I've just been so annoyed lately. It seems like more and more I am expected to do peoples jobs for them. More specifically in the medical/ billing/insurance fields. It used to be if someone canceled on you they'd reschedule you. They would see if you had coverage for something and then let you know the results. If they couldn't right at that moment they'd get back to you. They'd pay attention to the tiny details that save you hundreds of dollars and you wouldn't have to call people over and over to set everything straight in order to do so. Whatever happened to follow ups? ( For the record this isn't about my doctors office they are wonderful and I've NEVER had any of this happen there.) Is it just me or are you doing other peoples jobs for them to?
For all of you who would like to help out the needy this Christmas, but aren't sure how to go about it please read the following article that was printed in the paper this week. Merry Christmas!! :)
Knights of Columbus team with firefighters for food and toy drive By: Courtesy of the Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus, in cooperation with the Kern County Fire Department, are collecting canned goods and toys for their annual Christmas Baskets for Needy Families program. I received this in an email and thought I'd pass it along to those of you that would find this info helpful in your choices of what to see this holiday season. I also checked it out at snopes.....it's 100% true.
