countygirl - > Wake up Tehachapi !! -> Sec.8 - Does anyone know??
Sec.8 - Does anyone know??
Does anyone know if the Sec.8 was approved? I just noticed( on the agenda) that there were some complexes approved to be built off of Pinion. Does anyone know if these will be Sec. 8? I've been looking at  homes around in that area and if this was going to be in the area I wouldn't consider moving there. Any info would be helpful. Thank You!

Gube and DonMar must be the same person.  This conversation is too hokey for words.  Seems OU812 is as well.

I think that RobertPrice is suffering from paranoia.  I'm up at 4 a.m and I see you posting all over the place accusing people of being the same people.  LOL, stick with the topics and stop making accusations.  Or.....maybe.....I'm all of those people too.

Now back to the topic.  If this housing becomes a problem.  We all need to get the phone number of the Housing Authority and start complaining about the management.  Section 8 has guidelines that they are suppose to follow.  We don't have to just let things go if they turn bad.

Olivia and Big Dog, what do you think of Sec 8 people who would let their house be the biggest eyesore on the block?, why should the rest of the neighborhood have to look at that all year long?, yard dead and full of weeds, broken down cars in the yard,trash everywhere, is this fair to the other people on the block working hard to make their house nice?,

Hey Starbucks you just described my house. But then again we know were white trash. we have one broken down mini van in our yard, But the kids use it as a fort. Unfortunately fore the kids the neighbor across the street well soon be hauling that away.  And there are a few other houses that look like mine. It is no secret that we are the loudest house on the block.And i know that i need to make a trip to the dump but My kid totaled my truck in the beginning of the year so Starbucks if you have a truck and you want to help out a neighbor it would be much appreciated. I have had several surgery's these last few months and haven't been able to do much. But I'm starting to heal up pretty good so hell Starbucks i think you just lit a fire under my a**.  It woudn't take a whole lot to make my yard look better. Thanks

Oh hell no.... If these "Section 8" people were keeping me awake with their shenanigans, or having strange people coming in and out at all hours, or if they had dogs that barked day and night or kids tearing up my stuff and stealing out of my yard.   I'd have a problem and report them.  But I don't pay attention to people's yards and what they have in it or if they have weeds.  It's none of my business.  I don't understand how it is fair or unfair to another person on how something "looks".  Bigdogs parents are like that.  They have fits if another person parks their motorhome for too long.  I say, figure something out to worry about.

I agree wholeheartedly Olivia! If my next door neighbor wants to paint her house purple with orange polka dots, I don't care!

One of my older brothers is now hating where he lives...Bear Valley.

Starbucks, is what fair?  Property value?  Do you enjoy where you live?  Was this a great neighborhood until "we" arrived?  You must be one of my neighbors.  You asked me on another blog where I lived.  Of course I thought it was creepy and ignored it.

You were also one of the 2 or 3 that didn't find the humor in the "bigdog abuse" case.  So...I'm assuming, you have "life" issues.  Why not try solving the problems that are going on inside your own head.

This is what's up?  We are renters.  (shame on us) we must be bad people.  When we moved here, there was no yard at all, it was dirt with some of those stinky "juniper" bushes half a** planted in the yard.  There was also a small pine tree that was there too.  I'll get back to the pine tree incident.  Anyway....we got rid of the junipers that were randomly scattered in the dirt and we planted grass.  I've had a lawn for the last 5 years.  The first time I was able to mow my new lawn, I bumped the little pine tree and it fell over.  So...up came the poor little pine tree that never seemed to grow.

This summer is the first summer that I haven't spent evenings out in my yard watering or mowing.  Why??? We had septic problems.  The landlord came out and dug up the septic and had it pumped.  He covered the hole and left big uneven spots in the yard.  A few days later, water started seeping up through the lawn and created what I called "the swamp".  Landlord again dug up a different spot in the yard and again left huge uneven spots.  He treated the septic or whatever with something and now the problem is fixed.  He has offered to bring in some dirt and gravel and we will hopefully have a lawn again next summer.

For the crap on the side of the house and in the back yard. We no longer have a truck as bigdog stated.  We used to take regular trips to the dump.  We had a friend with a truck that we would borrow at times before we had the truck.  We haven't had a truck for awhile and the friend moved to Bakersfield.  Yeah, our house looks like hell.  We also have a mini van that is in good shape, it just doesn't run well. It's sitting on the side of our house and my boys use it as a fort.  They wanted to spray paint the windows different colors, however, I limited them spray paint the inside of the windows black.  They look like tinted windows.  However...due to "your" little problem, I now wish I had bought different colors of paint for them to use.  LOL, they also have an extension cord running to it because they like to take their tv out there and camp out.  Jeeze, the nerve of us white trash sh*t.

So, I've decided in order to solve "your" problem, this is what I'm going to do....I'm going to get all the crap and pile it in the front yard and put a big ol a** sign that says FREE!  Of course it will probably sit there for awhile considering it's all crap!!  Hopefully you won't decide to sell soon, cause I'm sure no one will want to buy in a neighborhood where people put all their crap in the front yard with a FREE sign on it.  I might go to Kmart tonight and buy 4 or 5 different colors of spray paint and have the boys go at it with the Van.  They will surely have a good time doing that!

I'm not sorry that I am not a snob and believe in personal freedom. Why does society allow how other people live to affect property values? Please. If you are so paranoid about that, go live in a place like BVS where you can't fart without permission from the HOA.

The only thing that would concern me is if there were a fire or health hazard, otherwise it is none of my business.

Thank you Joty.  I know that the outside of my house is a mess.  Believe me, I go out to my garage and complain and kick things around all the time.  I love having a yard.  I've always had a yard.  I used to manage an apartment complex and I mowed the grass, fixed sprinklers, and had the place looking nice.  It took me a solid 8 hours to mow that place once a week. But that was part of my job, that's what I did.  Now I work 8-12 hours a day, I'm 10 years older and last freaking thing I want to do when I have time is work more.  Bigdog has been out of work for surgeries since March.  He's had ankle surgery that he still going to physical therapy for and carpal tunnel on both hands in the past 3 months.  I'm not paying someone an arm and a leg to do something that I'm quite capable of doing.  WHEN I GET AROUND TO IT!!!  If not...neighbor, I'm out all day at work, you are more than welcome to do the work for me to clean up "your" neighborhood.  I'm sure bigdog would appreciate the help.

DEMOCRACY

At about the time our original 13 states adopted their new constitution, in the year 1787, Alexander Tyler (a Scottish history professor at The University of Edinburgh) had this to say about "The Fall of The Athenian Republic" some 2,000 years prior.

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.  From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship."

"The average age of the worlds greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From Bondage to spiritual faith;

From spiritual faith to great courage;

From courage to liberty;

From liberty to abundance;

From abundance to complacency;

From complacency to apathy;

From apathy to dependence;

From dependence back into bondage.

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning the most recent Presidential election:

Population of the counties won by:

a.. Gore = 127 million

b.. Bush = 143 million

 Square miles of the land won by:

a.. Gore = 580,000

b.. Bush = 22,427,000

States won by:

a.. Gore = 19

b.. Bush = 29

Murder rate per 100,000 residents in the counties won by:

a.. Gore = 13.2

b.. Bush = 2.1

Professor Olson adds:

"In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the tax-paying citizens of this great country.

Gore's 'territory' mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off government welfare and government provided jobs"

Olson believes the U.S. is now somewhere between the "complacency” and "apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy; with over 40 percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

So why haven't things improved under your President dad? Why do all my friends and family who voted for the Schrub (who now seems to have root rot) regret doing so?

Nevermind...I won't debate politics.

Greg, can you fart outloud or does it have to be muffled?

JOTY,

"your president"? The post isn't about who won or is the prez, it's about demographics and the possibility of history repeating itself. I don't think you read it in the context of the blog we are on.(government housing)  It's about the cycle of government through history and how that cycle repeats itself. The source is from two guys (Alexander Tyler and Professor Joseph Olson) that are commenting on a historical lesson and not who is. It is a lesson that both sides should pay attention to. The 2000 election was just used by Professor Olson  to shed light on the demographics to place us on with Alexander Tyler's timeline for the sake of warning about history repeating itself. Dependency comes from both sides of the government. I thought it was an openminded discussion to make me aware of our historical path traveled in order to keep us from repeating history. It wasn't a "debate"

The Special Provision UFART says it all: Unrestricted Farting Around Regular Terrestrials.

I was granted this provision because my farts don't stink (generally).
