countygirl - > Wake up Tehachapi !! -> WARNING- The Golden Compass
WARNING- The Golden Compass

I received this in an email and thought I'd pass it along to those of you that would find this info helpful in your choices of what to see this holiday season. I also checked it out at snopes.....it's 100% true.

This is a warning about an upcoming "kids" movie coming out in
December.

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released
December 7, 2007. This movie is based on the first book of a trilogy
by
atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so
they can do as they please.

Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003
interview that "My books are about killing
God."

The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is
designed to be very attractive in the hope that unsuspecting parents
will take their children to see the the movie, and that children will
want the books for Christmas.

The movie has a well-known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon,
and Sam Elliott. It will probably
be advertised extensively, so we are getting the info out so people can make an informed decision on this film.

You can research this for yourself @ snopes.com

A children book about a boy and girl killing god. I do think that some topics should be taboo. But freedom of speech gives film makers the right to make these movie's. Anyway I think I'll wait till i see the movie before i pass judgment.

I am not going to take my kids to go see this move. I hate when Hollywood and others push their agendas on us! ;) countygirl you have a new blog buddy!

Its obvious that the point of this email isn't to allow parents to make an "informed decision," it is to encourage a boycott.

How about we read the whole statement and not just a forwarded email before we damn this man and his art to hell.  Oh wait.... I don't think he believes in hell so go for it. :)  I for one am very excited to see this movie.  That doesn't mean I think its appropriate for children.  FYI this movie hasn't been rated yet.

Hmm, I guess the "watered down" version of the story of Moses should have given parents pause, too?

The Prince of Egypt was praised as a wonderful children's movie, yet it doesn't depict the horrific plagues described in the Bible. Fair's fair, so judge literature accordingly.

I read the trilogy years ago and loved it. Movies seldom translate well, but I will see the movie - probably after it's out on DVD.

"I hate when Hollywood and others push their agendas on us!"  I love statements like this, they crack me up. Has anyone from Hollywood ever held a gun to your head and said "you must see this movie or else!" LMAO...

It's called choice OU. Just like I chose not to see that disgusting movie about Christ made by Mel Gibson.

Sounds pretty funny.  Maybe if I watched kids movies, I'd see it.  As it is, I'm having difficulty deciding when I should allow my son to see Quentin Tarantino movies.  I'm thinking maybe around 7 or so.

I agree, Joty.  I tried to watch the Christ movie and it sickened me so much that I left.  It was like a religious horror film.
