Sitting here again with two of my three dogs under the desk (the dogs are under there, not me), I hear the thunder echoing across the sky. One of the little ones now gets and goes to the door to bark at the thundering sky - my big one stays put with her face hidden behind the computer tower. Can't tell which direction it is coming from. It has stopped raining for now, I'm hoping for the kind of downpour we had the first summer we lived here. I'm talking gully whumper that took out some of our dirt roads back here.

Flash floods can be frightening. I lived through two of the biggest in Vegas. One summer I was at Lake Mojave (Laughlin) with my daughter and her family, husband stayed home. While we were taking a break from skiing, sitting in our day camp, we suddenly noticed that the water level had risen over three feet up on shore. Later that afternoon - we returned to our hotel where my brother was watching the news in his room. He came running out when I got there saying something about flash floods and my neighborhood. Sure enough. It had rained so hard and fast it flooded even the freeway (our house was on a hillside so we weren't affected). I hurt my husband's feelings, lol. I called to make sure the dogs were ok. And it never failed, every time there was a flasher, some idiot had to be rescued from their vehicle

Yes, thank God for the rain.  I hope everyone stays safe.  I'm glad it broke in time for our softball game tonight, but I'd be happy for it to start back up again when everyone is done playing, lol.

I was in Sedona AZ when a flash flood came rolling down a canyon about 10 feet deep...it made a loud roaring noise--sounded like a train coming down the tracks.  It was so awsm that we drove 5 miles down the road to watch it again...
