Has anyone else had problems or noticed........

That when ordering things online it's taking much longer for things to be processed and shipped or is it just me? The companies I'm talking about I've used before, but it seems like it takes forever for places to process things lately. I bought a gift for my friend just recently. It was from a large company. They sent me an email right after I ordered my gift saying that it was in stock. Well fast forward a week and it still hasn't shipped out yet. I finally called them to ask what the deal was. They told me that it could take up to two weeks to ship out. I was really irritated by this especially since I had upgraded my shipping so it would get there sooner. I complained(in a civil manner..lol) and got a refund on my shipping. Funny thing is it shipped out that day! What a difference a call can make! So......has anyone else noticed this trend or is it all in my mind?

I noticed Hotmail has been really slow for me lately.  I recently ordered some stuff online at a big store, got the cheapo shipping, and it came about 5 days later.  I always seem to get things fast.

Its because its a common thing nowadays, not like a couple years ago where people are afraid to put personal info online. with cell phones becoming mini computers and wifi is everywhere, shipping is used constantly

Everytime I order books from Amazon they take forever and a day. I usually forget about whatever I ordered by the time it's in my hands. I try to only pick sellers in CA too but that doesn't seem to make much difference,

I've had great experiences with Cabella's they are always quick. I've also had really fast shipping with Overstock.com,

I put an order online on the 14th with JC Penny and it says it shipped the 14th. Guess I'll have to wait and see, sounds too good 2 be true.

Usually nowadays these sites give you a tracking number to see where yur product is going, one time i ordered an ipod from apple and watched it get bounced back an for in china for 2 weeks before finally making its way to the use. and that trip to the US was only a day. So maybe other countries have different shipping than we do but i know most of the shippings can be tracked :)

I've had really bad luck ordering from Lillian Vernon.  Things were late, missing pieces and damaged.

I've had good luck everywhere else (knocks on wood).  I also order from ebay regularly, and I've never had any kind of problem with anyone there.

I seem to always get things right on time, if not sooner.  I do check  how and when my stuff is being shipped with a tracking number.   I do almost all my shopping online... I hate to shop in stores.  I did have a problem once last year, I ordered a new bed and it came like a week late, but that didn't affect me much, because I still had my old bed.   I think things like this just happen now and again.   I didn't have to pay for shipping on that order either.

try living in the big city, where u can order food like pizza and or panda express. talk about convienence. thou out of all the times i did order the shipping there was very quick and i was impressed, almost as fast as going out and getting it yourself. Also ordering groceries and even personal products, the list goes on.

i wonder if the world will become like that movie WALL-E where everyone is used to convience we become a blob on a floating wheelchair hehehe that movie rawked

Tracking numbers only  help you if you items have shipped. Like CG, I've also paid for rush shipping and then waited impatiently for something to be "handled" for a couple of weeks before it shipped out. But hey, since we're talking about shopping :  ),  I'm wondering if anybody knows if Bakersfield of Lancaster has a real swap meet like the ones they have down south in the drive-in movie theaters? It's sort of like a huge farmers market meets church rummage sale, where you can buy a space to sell your own stuff. Do you think people would go to one up here? Maybe with some food vendors, entertainment, car shows, crafting displays, etc? Kinda like the summer festivals, only monthly? It might help people like me who are always trying to live within my means, while satisfying the bargain bug that bites me periodically. I'm not a shopper, per se, but I am big on acquiring anything at a bargain!

Ordering online does rock, I order a lot of things that way.  Not having to pay sales tax is nice too, especially on small but expensive items like camera lenses where the sales tax saving is always much larger than the shipping cost.

Yaso, what did you think of the music in WALL-E?

Oh i think Wall_e was a wonderfulful film, how they incorperated old style music into it was simply amzing, i had to watch Helo dolly again after seeing Wall-E, ive been a big fan of Thomas Newman for a while, his score in American Beauty and shawshank redemption among other famous films finding nemo, lemony snicketts and pay it forward. there are to many to name but thew way he sets the mood in his films leave you gasping for more. Next time you watch a film listen to the ambiance and you realize music opens up your emotions and makes it a more enjoyable experience.

I've always lived in a rural area and have used the internet for all sorts of things.  I even bought my 5th wheel and then my motorhome and my car sight unseen off the internet and have not been disappointed with any of them.  It let me look at many vehicles without leaving my home.  JCPennys, Overstock, New Egg and TigerDirect and items from ebay come super fast.  I've given up on Amazon.  Takes way to long to get stuff--and I used to be one of their big fans.  For video games, DVDs and book I go to half.com.   Great prices and fast shipping.  Kohls and Walmart have pretty fast shipping and you can take most items to the local store if there is a problem.

Glad you like Tom's music Yaso, he really is a great composer.  I worked on the orchestral recording for WALL-E, in fact on all of the Pixar films for the last four years.  You are quite right, it's the music that defines the mood of a scene, not a bunch of stupid over-the-top sound effects.  I always tell people, don't let anyone tell you that sound effects are more important than music, no one comes out of the theater humming a door-close (sound effect)!

OT- The music in There Will Be Blood was crazy.  I don't think I've ever paid so much attention to the music in a movie before that.  I really want to see WALL-E.  Is it playing up here?

oh snap Pixar is one of my favorite companies, you can never go wrong with the quality of films they produce. its a sure win every thing they put out. But you know some sound effects do help out a film, i worked on this horror film one time and their was a scene that a man was rumaging thru the kitchen. in post we had to add sounds of flies and such to make out that this kitchen had rotten flesh in it, it almost made it to print with out it, and yes the score durning that part made it creepy, but you know its the little things that matter too.
