As if things weren't bad enough.........

These people just got royally screwed! What happens now when these people can't make their house payments or their credit card payments? How fair is it that some of these people(through no fault of their own) will screw up their credit now? This has the opportunity to ruin peoples lives. So wrong IMO! I really hope credit card companies, banks, etc. will be sympathetic to these people. Who are we kidding though.......really.

This is one of the dumbest moves a politician could do. This won't just affect the state employees but all of us. Those employees won't just have problems paying for their house, credit cards and etc, but also food, clothing, vacations, school supplies and more. Now take that into thought and figure how may stores and services will either have to raise prices or lay-off their employees to cover the lose of sales. Then watch the sale tax drop and the income tax drop. So in the end we will have more people on welfare and less money in taxes to pay for those unlucky people.

I guess it is nice to be a governor, actor and real estate mogul that has plenty of money.

Sounds to me like he's forcing the state legislature to freaking figure the budget out already.  It's a sad way to do it though.  Dems want to raise taxes, of course.  Reps want to cut education, of course.  There has to be something other than education they can cut!  Cut their own salaries!  And the last thing we need is more taxes.

Punishing the working man is wrong..................Arnold you can go to hell.........Try cutting off the funds to all the illegal aliens programs that these state workers taxes pay for.......

I don't agree withthe dems or the rep in their budgets, but I sure as hell think the dip in charge is WRONG. I wll agree with Gube.

I always wondered why so many people wanted to oust Davis & replace him with Arnold. Did they really believe things would be handled differently with the Governator in charge? Really?!? Did they really think the expense of the recall would be worth it? Really?!?

*Thanks, Seth & Amy!*

It is amazing the positions people take whenever really difficult (or impossible) decisions have to be made. It doesn't matter if it is Davis, Arnold, Brown or Reagan. When the legislature will not act in a responsible fashion (and, I don't care if it a democratic or republican controlled body), eventually someone has to take action. Very few are going to agree with that action. People wanted to oust Davis for the same reason they probably want to oust Arnold now. It is really easy to complain, but exactly what could you do if you were Governor (note that I said "could"). First you have to know what are available options to force legislative action, and then you have to know what you "would" do. You can't do things that are impossible to accomplish--those things are easy to say here, or anywhere else, but it is quite different when you are the person making the decision. Arnold got swept into office because of the "perceived" ineptness of the last office holder. I voted for him even though I'm not in his party, and I was as angry with Davis as I probably now am with Arnold, but then I have to step back and realize I'm not sure if anyone could make a good decision under the circumstances.

ruralvoice I agree that I wouldn't want the job....................I voted against the Davis Recall..........My problem with Arnold is he sold all you that voted for him a big bag of sh-t......and you all ate it up........................Yes I am a Decorate but these Ca Dem's take the cake for representing not you and me but they represent screwed up spacial interests which is bad for Ca. ..................But to punish the working man because the big boys can't get along is wrong....................

I only voted against the recall.............I  want to make it clear that I did not cast a vote for Cruz Bustamante.............

OT - Christina, just wanted to say I like your new TN blog photo.  It's nice to put a face with the posts.  I wish more people would do it.  Lori and I met this week at Farmer's Market thanks to her picture.  :-)   Susie

How about he just cuts the senator's pay to minimum wage.  The workers didn;t ask for this.

reffup, but that's the kind of thing to which I was referring. It's nice for me and you to suggest he do the impossible, but he can't do that (senator's pay is set by legislature, not the Governor---the Governor, to my knowledge, has no authority to unilaterally make any changes to that). I agree; I wish he could, but he can't. I understand your point though. It is really interesting to think of things that he actually can do, and it is quite limited I think (and unfortunately one of the things he can do to force legislative action is what he did). Yes, it is a shame.
