This day in age I feel like you can't watch your children to closely. I am of course speaking as a mother of a 6, 5, and 3 year old and I'm sure eventually I'll have to back off a bit. :) I am still horrified at times by some of the things I see and the choices people make. I think we've touched on this before actually, but I was reminded of my paranoia this weekend. My husband and I went to Chuck E Cheese in Bakes. for my nieces birthday. The place was a mad house with literally hundreds of people there. ( I know where not to go for any of my children's birthdays! lol) Anyway, I was quite disturbed by the amount of small children wandering without any supervision(at least it seemed so). I even had to bring my wandering nephews back to our table a few times. Again, I might be totally paranoid........ I mean there are a lot of people there, they stamp your hands and your kids so they know who belongs to who, etc., but still I couldn't help but feel that this would be a perfect place for some sicko to go unnoticed and was not about to let my kids out of my sight. I even pulled them aside before going in and gave them the "speech". " Do not let mommy and daddy out of your sight....if you don't want to hold our hands you better stay close, and if someone tries to take you SCREAM! " Adding to this.... my heart sinks a little every time I bring my daughter to and from school and I see a very small child walking to school alone. So what is it? Am I paranoid? Will this ever go away? I hope so, but it seems like there will always be something to worry about! :)
