When I was a kid I didn't like to read if my mom read me stories when I was little I loved it but not anything past about the age of 4 or 5 when I was about 13 my mom forced me to read out loud which I hated even more. I didn't pick up a book again until I was 28 and pregnant with my son. I soon re-discovered the joy of reading so now I read when I have time and I find the books are always much better than the movies.

I don't think forcing your daughter to read will benefit her at all. I agree with Canibeyou take her to the library and let her choose she might not be ready for chapter books with out the stimulation of pictures, 7 is kind of young for Nancy and Little House maybe when she is a couple years older she will find that series of interest.

My son was also a lover of books when he was little, he used to take a stack of 3-4 and sit them next to the toilet and "read" while he communed with nature. (Must be a guy thing) he also would sleep with books up till he was about 6 then when he started having to transition from the children's books to chapter books he totally lost his interest. I just found out he has started reading again-nothing I would choose and lots of gaming type books and anime stuff- but he is 15 and I know as he matures he will continue to love reading which will be beneficial to him as an adult.

I LOVED to read when I was young. I do now too , but can never find the time. It's my fault really. I get a book and then I can't put it down, next thing I know it's 3 am and I'm a zombie trying to get my kids to school. lol

I read the whole Nancy Drew series at least twice. Anything that involved horses I read. I remeber these fun books called Mrs. Piggle Wiggle( I think)  that I loved to read when I was about eight.  There were some other series that I really got into also but I can't remember the name. I also read some of the Little House on the Prarie  and Ramona books too! :)

I loved to read as a child and some of my favorites were the Sweet Valley High series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and a series that started with Love Comes Softly by Janette Oake (probably needs to be a little older though).

Luvmy2girls -- Sweet Valley High! Thank you! That was the name of the series I couldn't remember. I read so many of those!  I remember if I went and I couldn't find the next book in the series or it was checked out it was the end of the world!  It was you checking them all out wasn't it! LOL!
